Evelyn M. Lawida – June 24, 2019

Livonia/Rochester:  At age 77 years, Evelyn passed peacefully at the Episcopal Church Home in Rochester, NY on June 24, 2019.  She is predeceased by her parents Edward and Helen Lawida and her brother Edward Lawida.  Survived by her sister Inez and her nephew Jay.  Evelyn is also survived by her school teaching community in Livonia.

Evelyn was a graduate of SUNY Geneseo and a dedicated teacher at the Livonia Central School District for over 30 years.  She was a kind, giving and helpful person who loved to read and was always learning.

Scot R. Philipson “Scotty”- June 23, 2019

Livonia:  Peacefully on June 23, 2019 at age 52.  Predeceased by his father Raymond E. Philipson and his grandparents Ed & Julia Philipson and Ivan & Dorothy Costello.  Survived by his mother Edyth (Costello) Philipson and siblings; Diane (Scott) Ackerman of Livonia and John (Jen) Philipson of CO; nephews, Jack and Maxwell Ackerman.  Also survived by his aunt and uncle Helen & Dave Miller, many cousins including Bryan (June) Miller and Donna (Les) Barstow and many loving extended family members & friends.

Scot or Scotty to his friends, graduated from Livonia High School in 1985. He then went to work with his father as a plumbing and heating contractor later taking over Lakeside Plumbing & Heating.  Scot could always be found sharing the good times with his friends hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, following NASCAR and being on the lake. He loved being an uncle to Jack and Max especially spending family time in Colorado and Florida.

Marie D. Sweet ~ June 22, 2019

Livonia:  At age 90, Marie passed away peacefully on June 22, 2019 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia.  She was born in Buffalo, NY to the late Frank and Philomena Botticelli.  Marie is predeceased by her husband; Robert W. Sweet and her sisters; Frances Breidenstein and Beatrice Bone.  Survived by her children; Deborah Sweet of Phoenix, AZ, Gregory (Marie Lynn) Sweet of Livonia, NY, her sisters; Mildred Hailand of Miami, FL, Gloria Hennessy of Buffalo, NY, Patricia James of Hamburg, NY, her grandchildren Keyon, Aryon, Caleb, Josiah, and Isaac, along with several nieces and nephews.

Her first job was as a secretary at the Iroquois Brewing Company in Buffalo. Late as a stay at home Mom raising two children, she became a real estate agent in the Orchard Park Area. As the wife of Robert, Orchard Park Building Inspector, she traveled to many conferences throughout New York State.  She was an artist with both drawing and painting. She enjoyed traveling with her family, spending time with her sisters, and took pride and joy in her home. She especially enjoyed baking and cooking family Italian foods. She showed her love through cooking meals for her family, especially on special occasions. When she came to Livonia, she enjoyed attending Faith Fellowship church.

Antoinette Y. Elderkin “Toni” – June 21, 2019

Conesus/Rochester:  Toni passed unexpectedly on June 21, 2019 at age 55.  Predeceased by her father Irving Elderkin.  She is survived by her mother Dorothy Elderkin and sister Constance Rice both of Conesus and her brother Curtis Perry of Rochester.  Toni is also survived by many friends including her close family friend Bob Crystal.

Toni was a graduate of Nazareth College and worked for more than thirty years in Lighting Design for local and international stage productions.

Paul L. Baron Jr. – June 21, 2019

Leicester:  June 21, 2019 at age 74.  Predeceased by parents Paul Sr. and Anne Baron, his brother Michael and his loving wife Barb.  Survived by children; Paul “Lenny” (Lauren) Baron III, Amy Baron, Julie (Howard) Sarquist, James (Susan) Chappel and Richard (Wendy) Chappel; brothers, John Baron and Peter (Cindy) Baron; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends including dear friend Robert (Gail) Nelli.

Paul was a retiree of York Central School District where he was an educator for 37 years.  He was a graduate of SUNY Geneseo.  Paul spent his retirement doing what he loved hunting, fishing, shooting and spending time with family and friends.

Frank L. Schreiner – June 21, 2019

Livonia:  Frank passed peacefully at home on June 21, 2019 at age 61.  Predeceased by his parents Robert and Rebecca Schreiner, brother Robert Schreiner Jr. and nephew Billy Jack Schreiner.  Survived by his wife of 42 years Elaine Schreiner and daughters; Erin (Giuseppe) Guarraci of Livonia and Megan (Justin) Rhodes of Canandaigua; grandchildren, Salvatore and Serena Guarraci and Benjamin, Joseph, Elijah and Nicholas Rhodes; siblings, Mary (Mike) Tremblay, Jerry (Jean) Schreiner, Polly (Bill) Bulkley, Leo Schreiner and Fred (Colleen) Schreiner.  Also survived by many loving family and friends.

Frank grew up in the small town of Webster’s Crossing and married the love of his life Elaine in 1977.  Frank built his life around his faith in Jesus. He valued hard work and a sense of humor. Frank generously gave of his time and expertise in everything that he did.   He devoted his life to the care of his family. He was a skilled machinist and businessman who touched so many lives. He will be greatly missed.

Elizabeth C. Read “Betty” – June 19, 2019

South Bristol:  Peacefully on June 19, 2019 at age 98.  Predeceased by her son Robert T. Read, husband Robert S. Read and sister Eva Quigg.  She is survived by children; Susan (Allan) Waterhouse of PA, Elizabeth (William) Tyler of South Bristol, Donna (James) Fulmer of Bristol, Janis (Henry) Maser of NC, Thomas (Michele) Read of PA and Lynore (Thomas) Burgie of South Bristol; nieces Sharyn, Lee and Merry; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Elizabeth was born in Philadelphia, PA June 15 th 1921 to Thomas and Eva Courduff. She married Robert Read of Philadelphia when she was 18 years old and celebrated 65 years of marriage before Bob’s passing in 2004. Elizabeth’s greatest love was her family. She was a stay at home mom to her seven children until her youngest was in 7 th grade when she began her career in sales in the children/infant’s department of Strawbridge and Clothier in Philadelphia. Her caregiving though extended well beyond her children. She provided loving and compassionate care to both her parents and sister when infirmity created the need.  Elizabeth relocated to South Bristol, New York in 1994 and fell in love with the beauty of the Finger Lakes. She was a devout Christian and a radiant example of the teachings of Jesus. She was a chaplain volunteer at FF Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua for 12 years and continued to bring comfort to many. She was a lifelong member of her church where she shared her musical talents playing piano, organ and handbells; and was always willing to share her vast knowledge of the Bible. Elizabeth also enjoyed travelling; especially her journey through the Holy Lands with Bob and a trip to Switzerland with her sister, Eva.

She will be remembered always for her wisdom, strength, and loving guidance. We feel so very blessed to be a part of her life.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate Elizabeth’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 29 th , at 1pm at the Honeoye United Church of Christ, 8758 Main Street, Honeoye, NY.  Burial will be held privately at Sunset Memorial Park, Somerton, PA. Frank Joseph Murante “Papa” ~ June 15, 2019

Rochester: Peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at the age of 95.  Frank was predeceased by his one truly-loving wife, Lucy Agnes (Faso) Murante in 1990; his parents Savino and Filomenia (Desino) Murante; sister, Mrs. Thomas (Christine) Meleo; and brothers Michael (Marian) and Rocco Murante.  He is survived by his sons Francis (Lisa) Murante, Richard (Barbra) Murante, and Thomas Murante; grandchildren, Daniel, Megan, Matthew, and Justin; brother Edward (Barbara) Murante; cousin Pat Teora; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Frank’s surviving family and friends will always remember him as the kindest of persons, who always put others before himself. He was most devoted to his family, exemplified by his help in raising all four of his grandchildren.

Frank served our country as a Marine in the Pacific Theater during WWII (1943-1946). Upon his return, Frank played semi-professional football for three seasons with the Rochester Raiders. He then attended college to study accounting while he also played collegiate football.

In the mid-1950s, Frank became a real estate broker, but to better support his family he shifted careers and worked at Xerox for thirty years before his retirement. Soon afterward, Frank suffered the passing of his wife, Lucy Agnes. Frank found solace and much joy in his care for his grandchildren. Frank also volunteered his Friday afternoons for about fifteen years at Rochester General Hospital. Frank briefly was a member of Bojaks social club.

Tamera L. Schwerzler “Tammie” ~ June 13, 2019

Livonia:  At age 56, Tammie passed peacefully on June 13, 2019 at her home in Livonia.  She was born to the late Albert and Joyce McGrain in Rochester, NY.  Tammie is predeceased by her sister; Nancy Kohler and is survived by her children; Gregory Schwerzler Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Paramus, NJ, Tyler Schwerzler and his fiancé Lindsay Black of Kingston, NY, Meghan Schwerzler of Livonia, NY, Emily Schwerzler of Conesus, NY, her siblings; Debbie Zeh and her husband Steve of Livonia, NY, Dawn Gerstner and her husband Jeff of Livonia, NY, Barry McGrain of Livonia, NY, Billy McGrain of Livonia and her grandsons; Patrick and Jacob Schwerzler, along with her Pug; Gracie.

Tammie was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. She grew up, went to school, and lived in Livonia for the majority of her life. She loved living in a small town where she knew everyone. Tammie worked at Livonia High school, Building and Zoning office and local Post Offices, serving her community gave her much joy. She had a passion for crafting and crocheting and would constantly start a new project before finishing the last. Nothing gave her more happiness than her children, grandchildren, all the children who hold a special place in her heart, and of course, her pug Gracie.

George I. Price ~ June 10, 2019

Naples/Conesus:  Peacefully on June 10, 2019 at age 88 years.  Predeceased by his son Jamie Price, brother Raymond Price, and his special friend and companion Lorraine Messier.  George is survived by his daughter Cheryl Stanley of WV, sister Kathleen Daft of WV, friends and caregivers Frank & Debra Beachel and family of Conesus and several nieces & nephews.  

George was born on April 23, 1931 in Monongah, West Virginia to parents Everett and Mary Jane (Cremeens) Price.  He was a construction worker in the local area for many years and also worked in the grape and wine industries. He even made his own wine at home.  George was a Pittsburg Steelers fan and had always had a good sense of humor. A heartfelt thanks goes to the Livingston County Hospice Caregivers.

Rose Mary Bruce (Alger) – September 10, 2018

Honeoye/Jekyll Island, GA: Rosie passed away peacefully on September 10, 2018 after a long battle with ALS, at their home in GA, at the age of 73. She is predeceased by her parents George & Marge Alger and a granddaughter, Grace. She is survived by her husband of 51 years Truman; their children, Michelle (Phil) Gladding of Honeoye, Taylor (Amy) Bruce of Broomfield, CO and Travis (Stephanie) Bruce of Momument, CO. Also survived by their grandchildren Tanner, Mikaela, Kendall, Shaelyn and Trajon. She is also survived by an aunt, Martha Alger and her sister Marie (Leigh) Statt; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rosie graduated from Honeoye Central School (‘63) and SUNY Geneseo (‘67). After her marriage to Truman she was a stay at home Mom for many years. Following that she became a substitute teacher and a speech therapist in many different districts. Rosie enjoyed involvement in her community. She was a member of United Church of Christ, Friendship Circle, a Girl Scout leader, cheerleading coach, President of both Men’s and Women’s softball leagues in Honeoye, soccer and volleyball official, an usher at the Bristol Valley Theatre and a docent at Sonnenberg Gardens.

After retiring Rosie continued being an avid reader and enjoying her time playing tennis with her many friends in NY and GA. She also enjoyed going for walks on the beach, spending time in the kitchen making her delicious food and entertaining friends.

LaRue L. Weitzel – June 7, 2019

Bristol:  June 7, 2019 at age 64.  Predeceased by his wife Lucinda “Cindy” Weitzel and his son Eric Weitzel.  Survived by his daughter Emma Weitzel; step-sons, Corey Perkins and Timothy Coffee; significant other and loving friend Fran Watson, step-daughter Lacie Cole; grandchildren, Blake Coffee, Brooklynn Simmons, and Eleanor & Isabella Perkins; sisters, Beatrice (Don) Forsay, Dorothy Lonneville, Helen (Jim) Curry, Rachel (Wes) Howland, Amanda Weitzel, and Romona (Bob) Coty.  Also survived by many nieces & nephews, family and friends.

LaRue loved his family and friends including his granddaughter Brooklynn which he called Papa’s girl, grandson Blake, and granddaughter s Eleanor and Isabella.  He worked at Canandaigua Wine Company, spending over 30 years there.  He loved to play euchre, wood working, square dancing, hunting and the outdoors.  He loved to watch wildlife especially deer in the back yard and eagles.  LaRue enjoyed the family dogs bear bear, buddy, and his kitty baby girl.  He was always a jokester, having a big sense of humor.  He was well loved and could always put a smile on your face.  He was very strong, good hearted, and stubborn too!  He will be missed very much.

Rhoma Rae Smith (Johnston) ~ June 5, 2019

Livonia:  Rhoma R. Johnston Smith passed away on June 5, 2019 after a short illness at age 73.  She is predeceased by her parents Warren & Virginia Johnston and her beloved son Steven Paul Smith.  She is survived by her husband of 53 years Guy R. Smith; her children, Shelly Ranney (Tom Bergman) of Rochester and Scott (Kellie) Smith of Syracuse; her sisters, Karyl (Rodney) Wixted of Geneseo and Sally (David) Smith of Springwater.  Also survived by dear grandchildren, Jordan & Riley Ranney, Nathan & Connor Smith, aunt Peggy Young of Florida, nieces & nephews, many other loving family, friends and her cocker spaniel Peaches.

Rhoma was a member of the Lakeville United Church of Christ for many years.  She retired from the Conesus Lake Nursing Home where she was a dedicated LPN.  Rhoma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family deeply.

Marion F. Wildey ~ June 4, 2019

Livonia/Rochester:  At age 89, Marion passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia.  She was born in Caledonia, New York to the late Leon and Alice Wildey and was a lifelong resident of Rochester, NY.  Marion recently moved to Livonia two years ago to be close to her niece.  She is predeceased by her siblings; Leon Wildey, Alice Koestner, and Gloria Wildey and survived by her niece Pamela (Steven) Bishop of Livonia, great niece; Amanda (Timothy) McCarthy and her great-great-niece Holly Mae McCarthy.
