Irving E. Griswold “Irv”

Honeoye/New Symrna Beach: August 29, 2008 at age 76. Predeceased by son Thomas in 1980. Survived by wife Jeanette Griswold of Florida. Children; Ronald (Maureen) Griswold of Perry, David Griswold of St. Augustine, FL, Darlene (Stacey) Cratsley of Concord NC, Dennis Griswold and Debbie Phillips both of Florida. Brother Franklin Griswold of Groveland. Three grandchildren; Matthew, Mark, and Bethany Griswold. Nieces and nephews.

Irv was born in 1932 to parents Charles Griswold and Maude DeGaugh. He served proudly in the United States Air Force. Prior to retirement Irv was employed at Delco-GM. Irv was a long standing member of the Honeoye-Hemlock American Legion Post.

Leon M. Randolph

Conesus: Leon M. Randolph, 85 years, of Cole Road, Conesus, NY died at his home Wednesday August 27, 2008. He was born in Bradford, PA. October 22, 1922 the son of Archie Jasper Randolph and Rose Sherwood. Leon married his late wife Sara Williams on September 5, 1947. Mr. Randolph served his country during World War 2 in the US Navy which awarded him several medals. Prior to retirement, Leon was employed by Clover Gravel Corp. as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 832. He also was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge.

Leon joined his wife of 61 years, Sara, when he passed on Wednesday. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Gensamer of Sacramento, CA., Bonnie Goranson, Joyce (Russ) Webster and Lisa Abbott all of Conesus. 8 grandchildren, Paula, Laura, Debby, Cindy, Tracy, Kerri, Josh and Sara. 13 great-grandchildren. His Sister,Elva Gross of Cuba. several nieces and nephews. He also was predeceased by his sons-in-law, David Goranson, Donald Abbott,Jr. and Michael Gensamer.

J. Edson VanDerMeid

Livonia: John Edson “Ed” VanDerMeid, 90 years, of 10 East Ave. Livonia died Saturday August 23, 2008 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Ed was born in Livonia, March 24, 1918 the son of Clarence and Florence Clapp VanDerMeid. He was a life long farmer, working with is his father and brother on the family farms in Avon and South Lima. Prior to fully retiring, he was employed by James Corcoran at Avon Farm Equipment. Ed served his country proudly in the US Navy during World War 2. He was a member of the Livonia Masonic Lodge, the Livonia Area Preservation and Historical Society, the Livonia United Methodist Church, and a former member of Livingston Country Club in Geneseo. He also served on the Board of Trustees at Union Cemetery in Livonia for many years.

He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Elizabeth C. “Betty” VanDerMeid on October 30, 2003. Ed is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law John E. “Cork” and Bonny VanDerMeid of Livonia; Ronald and Rosemary VanDerMeid of Livonia. His grandchildren, Scott, Matthew, Adam, Steven, and Kevin VanDerMeid. Brother and Sister-in-law, William and Shirley VanDerMeid of Livonia. Also his Sister-in-law, Gerry Tracy of MA and Brother-in-law Robert Chappelle of VT. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dansville: Michael Jon Schettine 48 years of Logan Road, Dansville, died peacefully Tuesday August 19,2008 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester from unexpected medical complications.Michael had been hospitalized since August 1. Hugh M. Duncan

Avon: Hugh M. Duncan, 68 years of South Lima Road, Avon, NY died Friday August 15, 2008 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Rochester, NY August 11, 1940 the son of Hugh William Duncan and Bessie Yeager. He was raised by Samuel and Sarah Poles Lucas. He was a retired field superintendent with Elder Jones in Bloomington, Minnesota, and a member Local 85 Carpenters Union.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joyce Hill Duncan; his children Hugh A. Duncan of Lima and Kimberly A. Duncan of Avon. His grandchildren, Lorena Walker, Ashley Duncan and Sarah Duncan. Sisters, Anna Thomas of Batavia, Beulah Coleman and Phyllis Griffin both of Rochester. Former daughter in law Sophia Duncan. Also many nieces and nephews.

Honeoye-Henrietta: Peacefully, August 7, 2008 at age 83 years at Wesley Gardens in Rochester, NY. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ivan. Survived by her son, Michael DeVelder. Her daughters, Carol (Robert) Rudolph, Lynda (Edward) Shaw, Donna (Lee) Bradley, and Laurie Radesi. Also, step-son Ivan Eric (Barbara) Thompson. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Macedon: Betty June Mansfield of Stone Street in Macedon, formerly of East Bloomfield, died August 5, 2008 at age 77 years at St. Johns Home in Rochester, NY. Predeceased by her sister Jean Monaco and brother Ben Forbes. Survived by and loved by her sister Mary Stringham of Canandaigua, her children; Diana (Bill) Burbank of Fairport, Cathleen (Harry) Schultze of Texas, Steven Mansfield of Bloomfield, Gerry Mansfield of Louisiana, Brenda (Leon) Colf of Florida, and Joyce (Mark) Lucas of Rochester. Betty June was born August 4, 1931 in Canandaigua, NY the daughter of James Forbes and Stella Hook. She was a wonderful mother and friend who loved cooking, crafts, and playing games.

Matthew R. Gillen

Honeoye: Matthew R. Gillen, 55 years of Park Lawn Apatrments in Honeoye died Saturday August 2, 2008 at Rochester General Hospital. He was born February 17, 1953 in Rochester the son of George B. and Della Shutts Gillen. The School of the Holy Childhood and the Al Sigl Center, both in Rochester, were both very important parts of his life.

Matt is survived by his brothers, Scott (Elaine) Gillen, Kippley (Nancy) Gillen of Honeoye, Brett (Katherine) Gillen of Fairport, Timothy (Eileen) Gillen of Canandaigua. several nieces and nephews including Scott, Brendan, and Justin Gillen.
