Patricia A. Jenks (Flood) ~ July 29, 2022

Honeoye: At age 83, Patricia passed away while on hospice at her home on July 29, 2022 surrounded by family. She was born on June 5, 1939 in Canandaigua, NY to the late Frank and Pauline (Harvey) Flood. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her daughter Colleen Marie Jenks. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Irwin “Irv” Jenks and children; Debby (Richard) Herendeen of Shortsville and Bret Jenks of Canandaigua; granddaughter Kelly (Joshua) Bowen of Shortsville; great grandchildren Xavier Simmons, Jillian Bowen, Gabriel Bowen; brother, David Flood;nieces, nephews, cousins, brother/sister-in-laws and many friends.

She was kind, loving, smart, generous, witty, loyal, at times feisty and direct (sometimes too direct for some). She was very artistic, especially with her stained glass. She and her boss at Glass and Green were once commissioned to do a cornucopia lamp for Mark Hamill’s (Luke Skywalker’s) apartment in New York along with a lamp for his place in California. They also did 3 full size cars in stained glass for a Mercedes Dealership in Edison, New Jersey (Ray Catena Motor Cars).

She strove to accomplish and celebrate something every day. Pat kept herself busy at most everything from gardening, mending or sewing new clothes (even doll clothes) and crocheting. During the pandemic she worked with her friends to sew cloth masks to give away to those in healthcare and those that did not have any (they made over 300 of them). She would pick berries for baking pies and she was a great cook (even though she never would claim that title).Through the years she worked several part time jobs in her spare time – tying and picking grapes when in season for a vineyard in Naples, book-keeping for the family siding business, working at the stained glass and florist shop Glass and Green, and in later years she also worked in a gift shop in Honeoye called Petals and Lace.

In the winter Pat and Irv would go snowmobiling and dog sledding; in the summer boating and camping with the family. She always kept active every single day, which is why she enjoyed such good health up until her lung cancer diagnosis March 9, 2021.

Her friends and family meant everything to her and she loved them fiercely. She would do anything for her kids and she often did.

Over the years their house on Ashley Road was a gathering place for many; just for a cup of coffee, to chat and play cards or even to stay for months if a safe place was needed.Pat loved playing cards and board games, doing jig-saw puzzles, Words with Friends and Farmtown; as well as staying connected with her friends and family on Facebook. She loved watching The Match Game and America Says on tv.

In her younger years she sang in a Country and Western group with her friend Betty Paul, and this is how she met Irv. She also loved Olive Garden, collecting Smurfs, Precious Moments, Fenton glass, “old and odd things”, solar lights and Skechers shoes.

Pat loved the beach, especially Myrtle Beach and spent most of the winter’s down there. It was her “Happy Place” and she enjoyed swimming, walking the beach while looking for dolphins and finding seashells or shark’s teeth.

Pat loved her wine, especially Moscato and most recently learned to make ice cubes with it for slushies.

She would want you to know that she lived a happy, long, memory filled life and to not carry any sadness in your heart for her. In keeping with Pat’s wishes no formal funeral services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Ontario – Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Road, Geneva, NY 14456.
