Elba:  At age 25, Billee went to be with her daddy and her babies on Tuesday, December 31, 2019.  She was born in Rochester, NY to Patricia Mosher and the late William Mosher.  Survived by her fiancé; Erik Mendez, her siblings; Logan Routly, Alex Routly, Travis (Micalina) Mosher, Tyson (Charday), Christopher Mosher, Megan (Rodd) Mosher–Paddock, Ryan Mosher, Taylor Tahquette, along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her adopted siblings.

Billee attended Livonia Central School and loved working at the Hemlock Fair.  She loved helping her father build derby cars and was a “Bucket Baby” (Explorer) for the Hemlock Fire Department  Billee was a kind soul, who always had a smile on her face and who had a heart of gold.  She could make anybody laugh by being silly.  Billee loved life and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  PS “Travis has your gum.”

Piffard/Hemlock:  Marcia went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2019 at age 78.  Predeceased by her first husband Garren Sparks, her parents William and Vera Morgan, and sister Carol Tette.  Survived by her loving husband Jerry Metz; children, Doug (Dan Nichols) McDaniel of Buffalo, Leslie (Bob) Bradfield of Livonia, Alison Freeman of Lima, Elizabeth (Kevin) Lopez of Livonia; grandchildren, Timothy Butterazzi, Amy (Mark) Fox, Adam Scheffler, Embry Freeman, Danielle Freeman, Erin Freeman, Anthony (Kristy) Teed, Ashley Teed, and Nicholas (Stephanie) Teed; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Marilyn Ellis, Richard Morgan, William Morgan, and Cheryl VanKuren.  Marcia is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Marcia’s love for her family was only pale in comparison for her love for the Lord. Her strength that she drew from her faith was immeasurable and that faith gave her a heart for reaching out to so many people, she reached out to and ministered to family, friends and the complete strangers that she crossed paths with. She had a passion for gardening that turned her into a composting machine, it was extremely hard to throw anything away in the garbage that could be used as compost, it became a game. She was also known as a fitness fanatic; it wasn’t at all uncommon to hear her running on her treadmill in the basement while listening to worship music. Up until this last summer it wasn’t out of the ordinary to see her chasing her GREAT grandchildren in the back yard. Marcia had no profession of perfection but she constantly would strive to be a better person than she was the day before. It is hard to think of Marcia and not come away with a feeling of love, her smile lit up the room, she was a strong, determined and gifted woman who has passed those traits down through her children and to her grands. She is much loved and much missed.

Conesus:  At age 79, Nancy passed away on December 27, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.  She was born in Apollo, PA., to the late John and Nancy Stokes.  Nancy was predeceased by her siblings; Leroy Stokes, Jean Beck, Estella Kerr, Sara Dobbin and her sons-in-law; Joseph Stefko and Michael Savino.  Survived by her husband; Manley D. Dansville:  At age 76, Diane passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2019 at her home in Dansville.  She was born in Buffalo, NY and is the daughter of the late Edwin and Wilemina Crittsinger and the late William and Margaret VanCuran.  Diane is predeceased by her companion; Donald Paddock.  Survived by her son; Edward G. Honeoye/Tonawanda:  R. Gary Banas, 74, died unexpectedly at his home on Honeoye Lake, Honeoye NY on December 25, 2019. He was born on December 1, 1945.

He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Mildred (nee Staines) and his wife of 29 years Arlene (nee Pera).  He was the former husband of Kathleen R. O’Keefe of Hamburg, NY. He is survived by his children, Patricia Banas of Tonawanda, NY, R. Gary Banas Jr. of Tonawanda, NY, Peggie Keener (John) of Grand Island, NY, Robert Banas (Sarah) of Tonawanda, NY, Aundrea Baker of Amherst, NY and Arlaina Janowski.  He was the proud grandfather of 15 and the great-grandfather of 10.

He lived in the City of Tonawanda for over 63 years and was a 1964 graduate of Tonawanda High School.  He was proud to serve his community of the City of Tonawanda in his earlier years with the NY Auxiliary Police and for 30 years as a Group Leader for the City of Tonawanda Public Works Department.

Gary was introduced to photography in high school and studied for 3 years in the New York State Photographic Apprenticeship Program.  He later applied these talents in the United States Air Force as a Still Photo Journalistic Technician.  He served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971 and stationed at Udorn RTAFT. His duties included: PACAS Jungle Supervisor, Air Rescue and Combat Photographer over Southeast Asia and he continued his work with flight photography for Langley Field Air Force Base and at Patrick Air Force Base capturing history by photographing the Apollo 8 Launch in 1968.  He remained in service with the New York Air National Guard NCOIC 107 ^th fighter group at Niagara Falls, NY for another 14 years.

Upon his retirement, he and his beloved wife Arlene, became permanent residents of the quiet lake town of Honeoye, NY that they had often visited during their marriage. He was an avid hunter and fisherman in Honeoye, NY. Gary enjoyed time outdoors in the Finger Lakes with his daughter Peggie as they would search for unique images that they could capture on camera. Gary also enjoyed summer time visits with all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He spent many days with friends at the American Legion in Honeoye, visiting neighbors around the lake, and often joined his lifelong friend, Dennis Hilburger, for an afternoon Manhattan, their favorite cocktail.

He was an active member of many clubs in Tonawanda and Honeoye including:  City of Tonawanda Elks Lodge, Tonawanda American Legion Post 264, VVA Chapter 77 WNY, Honeoye Fish and Game Club, Honeoye American Legion Post 1278, life member of the Tonawanda VFW Post 7545 and the Hemlock Sportsman Club.  He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and fellow club members.

Memorial service will be held January 4, 2019, 2:00pm – 4:00pm at John O. Roth Funeral Home, 25 William Street, Tonawanda, NY with a presentation of military honors immediately following at 4:00pm.  He will be joined with his late wife, Arlene, at private burial ceremony attended by immediate family only.

Lakeville: Leon Van Lieshout, 92 years, of Geneseo, NY, formerly of Albion, NY, died on December 23, 2019 after being diagnosed with lung cancer in November 2019. He was born in the Netherlands, February 1, 1927, the son of Godefridus and Anna Maria Van Lieshout. Leon and his wife Hendrika married on September 19, 1956, and immigrated to the United States on September 29, 1956. They first settled in the Baltimore, MD area, where their six children were born. They also lived in Verona, NY, before moving to Albion, NY in 1978. Leon was a life-long dairy farmer, owning his own farms in upstate New York. Two of his sons, Michael and Andrew, continue to build on the farm he started in Albion. Leon served in the choir and was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Albion for over 30 years before moving to St. Matthew Catholic Church in Livonia. Leon also loved ice skating, playing the accordion, and serving in local politics. 

He is survived by his children, Michael (Cyndy) Van Lieshout of Albion, Martina (Stephen) Moulton of Le Roy, David (Christina) Van Lieshout of Livonia, Lawrence (Barbara) Van Lieshout of Stillwater, MN, Andrew Van Lieshout of Albion, Anne Marie (Chris) Barnwell of Ft. Honeoye:  Joseph C. Bader, 102, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2019, in Canandaigua, NY.

Joe was born on October 13, 1917 in Rochester New York, the son of the late Charles and Anna Bader.  He was the youngest of 5 children. He went to school in Rochester and to Monroe High School. He was on the baseball team at Monroe.  Baseball was a real love of Joe’s. Following school, Joe worked at Eastman Kodak Company in the Roll Coating Department, eventually becoming foreman, and staying at Kodak for 35 years.  Joe fought in WWII, serving in Okinawa and Alaska for the United States Army. He played 3rd base on the US Army team during his service

On August 19, 1944, Joe married the love of his life, Estelle Doyle Bader.  They had 62 wonderful years together. Both Joe and Estelle were very active in their church, St. Ann’s of Rochester until 1977, and then St. Mary’s in Honeoye.  Joe loved to hunt and fish with his family and play “Love Thy Neighbor””card games with his family anytime. He spent the last 2 years living at Quail Summit in Canandaigua, NY.  He made friends wherever he went, and Quail was no exception. A hobby of his was macrameing beautiful folding outdoor chairs for all his family and friends. In the summer of 2019, Joe was granted a wish to hit a baseball again, and thus, at the Rochester Red Wing game, on July 13th, he was pitched 25 balls and hit many, one to third base.  He was given a Veteran’s standing ovation for his military service at the game. Most of his family came as well as residents of Quail Summit to cheer him on. In recent years, Joe was a big part of his great grandchildren’s lives, all 19, as well being known as “Papa Joe”.  

Joe is preceded in death by his wife Estelle, his parents, his sister, Dorothy, and brothers, Raymond,  Carl and Leonard and many family and friends. Joe is survived by his 6 children, Tom(Janice) Bader, Patricia (Tom) Seeley, Bill (Michelle) Bader, Peggy (Dave) Brady, Michael (Connie) Bader, John (Karen) Bader, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.  Joe will be greatly missed.

Canadice:  At age 81, Nancy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Sodus, NY to the late John and Anna Ekkebus.  Nancy was predeceased by her son; Ronald Bryant.  Survived by her beloved husband; Charlie Bryant of Canadice, her children; Raymond (Sheila) Bryant of Bloomfield, NY, Linda (Daniel) Fox of Conesus, NY, Susan (Jack) Holmes of Canadice, NY, Nancy (Darin) Thomas of Allentown, PA, her daughter-in-law; Jeanette Bryant, her grandchildren; Timothy Bryant, Missy Bryant, Erica (Tom) Case, Ann (Chris) McDuffie, Marie Bryant, Lacey (Zack) Fox-Smith, Jacob (Shawnee) Fox, Allison Holmes, Mac Thomas, Ben Thomas, Abbey Thomas, and her great grandchildren; Elise, Morgan, Ella, CJ, Brianna, Norah, Derek, Maeve, along with her dog Zinnia.

Honeoye Lake:  At age 77, Joanne passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.  Joanne was born in Rochester, NY to the late John and Josephine Loce.  Survived by her beloved husband of forever; Paul Pipitone, her children; Scott Pipitone, Lisa Pipitone, her grandchildren; Gray Pipitone, Gianna Pipitone, Gunnar Pipitone, her brothers; Richard and Robert Loce along with her “chosen family”:  her daughter, Debbie (Trevor) Huls, her grandchildren, Ashley (Kevin), Cassidy (Kevin), Tanner, and her great grandchildren; Gavin and Nova.

Avon, NY/Davie, FL:  Roger passed peacefully December 10, 2019 at age 95.  Predeceased by his wife Anne (Mustari) Harris and siblings; George T. Harris and Rosemary Hohu.  Survived by his daughter Roxanne Moran of Avon; grandchildren; Traci (Dominick) D’Alessandro of Deer Park, NY, Kathryn “Katie” (Chad) Smith of Livonia, Matthew (Danielle) Moran of Avon; great-grandchildren, Gianna, Joseph, and Michael D’Alessandro, Aidan and Jack Smith, and Christopher, Connor, and Emma Moran.

Roger was born on October 5, 1924 in Washington Mills, NY to parents William and Mary Harris.  He was raised on a farm in Ilion, NY and graduated from Ilion High School in 1942.  After high school he went to Morrisville College where he studied farming.  In 1943, during WWII, he joined the US Army Air Corps.  Roger was an aircraft mechanic and was stationed in China and served with General Chennault and the Flying Tigers.  After his service he stayed there as a Liberation Army General.

Roger was never one to stay still.  He was in the automotive business for many years owning used car dealerships and also gas stations in Caledonia and LeRoy.  He was also a long time truck driver and construction worker.  When trucking he loved the open road and traveling the United States.  During the 1980’s and 1990’s he was associated with H.S. Edinger & Sons Trucking, Tully, NY.  In his later years Roger spent many years in Davie, Florida where he loved the warm air and sunshine.

Avon:  Faye passed peacefully on December 9, 2019 at age 96.  Predeceased by her husband Kenneth O. “Kenny” and Kenneth P. “Kip” Blye.  Survived by sons; Jim (Mary) Blye and Bill (Pam) Blye; grandchildren, Jamie (Jennifer Clark) Blye, Jen (Peter) Brasdovich, Billy Blye, Holley (Adam) Lake, and Kenny Blye; great-grandchildren, Evan & Ethan Blye and Anabelle & Mclaren Lake; sister Jesse Salata;  and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Naples/Livonia:  Vida Lowery Edwards Todd currently of Naples and the Conesus Lake Nursing Home, Livonia. Vida passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019 at age 97. She was formerly of Heuvelton and DePeyster, New York.

Visitation will be held at the Naples Bible Church, 8833 NY 53, Naples, NY 14512 on Saturday December 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 PM. Vida was born April 2, 1922 on the Ireland Rd., Brier Hill, New York to Byron T. and Erma McQueer Lowery. She graduated from Brier Hill high school in 1938.  On September 19, 1941 she married Anson C. Edwards. He died September 9, 1981. On April 28, 1990 she married Edward Todd. He died July 14, 2009. She is also predeceased by her parents, three brothers and a half -sister; two granddaughters, a granddaughter-in-law and daughter-in-law.

She is survived by two sons: Lynn Edwards (Jill Walther) and Stuart (Diane) Edwards; her 10  grandchildren: Cheryl, Paul, Mary, Tim, Kim, Michael, Stuart II, Will, Angel, and Aaron; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; 10 step children and their families; and three nieces and three nephews.

She was a member of the Heuvelton Presbyterian Church since 1960. Livonia:  Jan passed peacefully on December 7, 2019 at age 71.  Predeceased by his parents Heiko and Klasiena Lesterhuis.  Survived by his son Austin (Heather) Lesterhuis of Cohocton; grandchildren, Briana and Clayton Lesterhuis; brother Heiko (Deb) Lesterhuis of Springwater; also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Jan was born on May 12, 1948 in Rochester, NY to the late Heiko and Klasiena Lesterhuis.  He graduated from Livonia Central High School in 1968.  He went on to study Mechanical Engineering at RIT. He spent many years as a salesman for Mack trucks. He finished out his career in the school bus industry.

Jan had many passions. A few being his love for vintage sleds; especially Yamahas, competitive shooting, hunting, racing slot cars with family and friends, and most importantly his time with his grandchildren. Those who knew Jan knew he was never one to mince words. His straight forward personality made him so easy to love. You never had to question what was on his mind.

Livonia:  Unexpectedly, Kenneth L. Bennett passed away on December 5 ^th , leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love for his family.  Ken was the son of the late Burtron and Eleanor Bennett.  He is survived by his wife, Karen, and their children Lisa Bennett, Jason (Sarah) Bennett, and Carrie (Denis) Bruce.  He was the best Opa to Jack and Eleanor Bennett and Sydney Bruce.  Ken is also survived by two brothers, Richard (Claudia) Bennett and Gerald Bennett as well as brother-in-law Gary (Donna) Goldstein, sisters-in-law Deb (Greg) May, Doreen Lapa (James Piano) and Laurie (Dave) Santarossa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken grew up in Greece, where he began dating the love if his life in 9 ^th grade and married her in 1974.  Together then went to Springfield, Massachusetts where he graduated from Western New England Law School after attending Ithaca College.  In 1978, Conesus Lake and Livonia became their home where they raised their children and reside today.  Ken was an attorney in Monroe County and was an Assistant District Attorney for Livingston County.  For the past decade, he was a baseball umpire for high schools and community programs.

Ken was a quiet man, with great determination and unwaveringly loyalty and love.  It was that determination which allowed him to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, be a member of the Western New England Law Review, and work through numerous health issues.  His loyalty and love for his family was a constant rock that allowed the rest of us to grow.

Geneseo:  December 4, 2019 at age 84 years.  Predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Helena Youtzy.  Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia “Ginny” (Camp) Youtzy; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah “Debby” and Wayne Williams of North Carolina and daughter, Anita Youtzy of Geneseo; many Adopt-A-Student sons and daughters, extended family, and dear friends.

Gerry was born at home December 12, 1934 in Geneseo, NY to parents Kenneth and Helena (Hungerford) Youtzy.  After meeting through a church college ministry at Geneseo United Methodist Church (GUMC) in 1959, Gerry and Ginny married August 27, 1960. He served in the Army National Guard for over 10 years. He attended Union College in Kentucky in the early 60’s, then went to Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta. After starting his ministry as a Methodist pastor in Georgia, Gerry and Ginny moved back to western New York, where he served as pastor in Batavia and Pavilion from ‘69-’74.  Their first daughter, Deborah, was born in ’72 while they were in Pavilion, and their second daughter, Anita, was born after their return to Geneseo in ’75.  Also upon the return to Geneseo, Gerry again became an active member of the GUMC and remained so until his death.

Gerry had many occupations throughout his life, one of which was as an employee, then owner and president of Livingston Abstract in Geneseo.  He served his community on the Village Traffic Committee, Village Planning Board, as a Village Trustee, and as Village Clerk/Treasurer.  Gerry loved the Buffalo Bills, Syracuse Orange, and Rochester Red Wings.  He started the tradition of an annual GUMC trip to the 4 ^th of July Wings game, which grew to include the GUMC Choir singing the pre-game national anthem.  After moving across town from the home he grew up in on E. South St, he could be found sitting outside on summer nights watching his evening primrose bloom.  He enjoyed visiting with the many people who stopped by to chat, and invited locals and their guests from around the country and world alike to take time to smell (or at least watch) the flowers.

Honeoye: At age 95, Shirley passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 with her family by her side for a final sweet moment of Thanksgiving. She was born in Detroit, MI to the late William and Della Loud.  In her teens they moved briefly to the Boston, MA area.  Shirley was a graduate of the University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan.  She attended the University of Michigan briefly before pursuing her credentials as an orthoptic technician.  She was working in this field when she was introduced to John A. (Jack) Kuecken, whom she married in 1950.  She followed John to Syracuse, NY, later Cincinnati, OH, and eventually to Rochester, NY.  They have three daughters, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  Shirley and Jack celebrated 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2011.

Livonia:  Ed passed peacefully at his home in Livonia, NY on December 1, 2019 surrounded by loving family and friends.  Predeceased by his mother Marie Sparks, sister Rhea Sparks, and special friend T.J. Peck.  He is survived by his father Ed Sparks Sr. of Conesus, brother Rob (Trish) Sparks of Livonia, nephews Joshua Sparks (Alana Blakemore) and Brenden (Morgan) Sparks, and his great-niece, who he loved to spend time with, Ryland Sparks.  Ed is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, his EMS family, and his canine sidekick Athena.

Ed Sparks served as the Director of Operations of the Livonia Ambulance for over 10 years, he was not only the Director of Operations, he was a great man who dedicated his life to the squad, and the community that it serves. He started in EMS in 1994 where he joined to drive the ambulance but soon after decided that there was more that he could do to help those in need. He became an EMT and over several years worked his way up through the EMS levels of care achieving his Paramedic in August of 2012. Through out Ed’s career in EMS he has helped countless individuals and personally had saved many lives. In the “quiet” time of serving the community, Ed enjoyed spending time with his Great Dane, sidekick Athena, having late night dinners at the bay with his family and friends, or relaxing at home watching Law and Order SVU.

Victor: At age 84, Dan passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY. He was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada to the late Santo and Rose Poliziani. Survived by his children; Karen Poliziani, Daniel Poliziani, Kimberly Poliziani, David Poliziani, Laurie Lischer, Terrence Lischer, Eric (Lori) Lischer, his grandchildren; Daniel, Maysie, Cole, Karly, Ashley, Ryan, Michele, Kendall, Troy, Timothy, Caitlin, Chelsea, his great grandsons; Rowan, Quin and sister; Tina Casali.

Dan was a Canadian professional ice hockey player from 1952-1965.  He played for the RI Reds, Hersey Bears, Cleveland Barons, Quebec Aces, and Boston Bruins.  Once he retired from hockey, Dan knew that his next career would be in horse racing.  He trained race horses from 1965-present.  Dan lived his life to the fullest and did things his way.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Conesus Lake: At age 85, Steve passed away peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2019 at his home on Conesus Lake, where he lived since 1968.  Steve was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Alfred L. Kronquest and Viva Kronquest. He is survived by his children, Erik Kronquest of Seattle, WA; Stacey Kronquest of Savannah, GA.; and his grandchildren: Jacqualyn Kronquest Ellis, Drew Ellis, and Quinn Erikson Kronquest.

Steve’s collaborative and competitive spirit served him well in his broadcasting career. He started out in radio sales at WHEC in 1958, eventually becoming the television station’s senior vice president and general manager. In 1984, he became the general manager of WIXT-TV in Syracuse. Steve was creative and principled, both a numbers guy and a wordsmith, and under his leadership both television stations became community and news leaders.

After retiring in 1995, Steve took to the sky, flying powered aircraft and sailplanes. He loved Upstate New York’s wilderness, too, hiking the trails throughout the Finger Lakes, his dog by his side. A natural storyteller, Steve shot his way out of Cuba during the revolution and derived his love of the outdoors from his Native American grandfather. He thought anything was possible, eternally an optimist.
