John Michael Monroe ~ February 22, 2019

Livonia:  John Michael passed unexpectedly on February 22, 2019 at age 27.  He is predeceased by his grandfather; Richard Monroe.  Survived by his daughter; Amara Ann Monroe, his parents; John and Sharon Monroe, his brother; Steven Abbey II, his sister; Kaitlyn Monroe, his grandparents; Norma Monroe, Gary and Gail Ruliffson, and great grandfather; Allen Ruliffson, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ariadne Barbara Alter Lydon – February 23, 2019

Honeoye Falls/Rochester:  September 5, 1928 – February 23, 2019.  Ariadne Barbara Alter Lydon (“Nan”) passed peacefully on February 23 rd , surrounded by loved ones in her apartment at the Jewish Home of Rochester. Nan is survived by all of her children, Barry Lerner, Marcy Lerner, Kenny Lerner, Christine Lydon, and Jeff Lydon; by her grandchildren, Andrew Samel, Nate Lerner, Jennifer Samel, Jamie Lerner, Evan Lydon, Morgan Lydon, and Finn Lydon; by her son-in-law, Jon Samel, and her daughters-in-law, Ann Lerner, Miriam Lerner, and Sarah Lydon; and by many friends, including those she made at the Jewish Home who took such good care of her in her final years.

Memorial services have yet to be arranged, and information will be posted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Nan to the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, Lollypop Farm.

Nan was a mother to the core, not only to her children, but to the happiest dogs and cats that ever lived. Small things made her happy, and she laughed so easily and so well. We will miss her deeply. Nan’s favorite verse, from Walt Whitman’s  Leaves of Grass , is a fitting farewell: “The untold want by life and land ne’er granted, / Now voyager, sail thou forth to seek and find.”

MaryRose A. Carreo “Millie” – February 13, 2019

Geneseo/Holley: Millie passed peacefully at her home on February 13, 2019 at age 102. Predeceased by her husband Richard A. “ Blondy” Carreo and her grandson Brannon R. Smith. Survived by her daughters; Kathleen (Robert) Smith of Pittsford and Norene (Philip) Lagana of Geneseo; grandchildren, Marissa (Todd) Schofield, Brie (John) Browne, Elyse (Al) Jones, Kirsten Lagana, Kelsey Lagana, and Celine Lagana; great- grandchildren, Kyle, Grace, and Sophia Schofield, Caden, Shay, and Broden Browne & Emerson Jones. Also survived by her sister-in-law Audrey Robitaille and many nieces & nephews.

Millie was a longtime, active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and both the American Legion and Fire Department Woman Auxiliaries, all in Holley, NY.  Over the years Millie had always enjoyed making crafts and tending to her many flowers and plants. She took up golf at 75, was still on a bowling league at 88, and received her first pool stick at 90. She was a longtime fan of the Buffalo Bills and was invited to be a guest at their training camp for her 100th birthday. When the players would ask her the key to a long life her answer was always,“be happy”. Her love for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends was overflowing and unconditional.

Millie’s Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 18 th , 10:00am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 4 Avon Road, Geneseo, NY 14454. Keith G. Roberts ~ February 12, 2019

Honeoye:  Keith Roberts, age 80, passed away on February 12, 2019 after a long illness.  He was born in Montour Falls, NY to the late Claude and Grace Roberts.  Keith is survived by his wife, Penny, his sister; Ellen Goltry, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers; Milo and Stanley.

Keith was a master craftsman, teacher, and artist.  He used his creativity and skills as a woodworker for everything from tables, chairs, and cabinets to the building and remodeling of homes.  A graduate of SUNY Oswego and the RIT School of American Craftsmen, Keith’s unique “hanging chairs” received multiple honors.  Following his MFA degree at RIT, Keith studied design and cabinet making with a master craftsman in Sweden.  All of the knowledge, energy and talent made Keith a one-of-a-kind teacher at Honeoye Central School.  The student furniture projects that he inspired and mentored are still enjoyed by families throughout the community.  Keith had a tremendous sense of design to compliment his skillfully crafted pieces.  Regardless of the tasks, from fine woodworking, to remodeling of homes, to teaching young people, Keith applied all of his multiple talents.  His bright spirit and generous manner made being with Keith fun and rewarding.  He will be missed.

Courtney A. Moore – February 11, 2019

Patricia A. Race – February 11, 2019

Livonia:  Peacefully on February 11, 2019 at age 78.  Predeceased by her husband William C. Race and son Ronald J. Race.  Survived by daughter Aletha (William) Cavalcante Bezerra; grandchildren, Kyler and Taila Cavalcante Bezerra, Veronica Race, and Ariane Perry; and 3 great-grandchildren.  Also survived by her brother John (Elaine) Fiorino, cousins, and friends.

Pat was predeceased by her loving parents Anthony “Tony” and Concetta “Connie” Giarizzo.  In 1969 she married William “Bill” Race and they moved to Livonia, NY in 1971 where they built their house on North Street.  Pat was active in the Livonia Community for many years.  As Bill was in the Livonia Rotary Club, Pat helped run the Rotary Loan Closet, and made many friends in the area.  She also operated her own business in Livonia called Technical Services that provided employment contracting.  Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Conesus: Aggie passed peacefully on February 8, 2019, at age 73, with her family by her side. Geraldine L. Pearson “Geri” – February 6, 2019

South Livonia:  At age 96, Geri passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 6, 2019 at her home in South Livonia.  She was born in Rochester, NY to the late Edward and Elizabeth Casaretti.  Geri is predeceased by her husband; Walter E. Pearson.  Survived by her three children; Brian T. Hare of Walworth, NY, Beverly A. (Robert) Allen of Pittsford, NY, Steven M. Hare of West Lafayette, IN, and her five grandchildren; Chris Hare, Scott Allen, Jeff Allen, Alissa Hare and Dave Hare, along with her three great-grandchildren.

Geri loved to make and give away lap robes; she had made hundreds of them.  She gave them to church members, friends and even donated them to fun raffles at senior events.  Geri was a faithful member of the South Livonia United Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir.  She loved animals, and often contributed to organizations that provided shelter and recuse services.  Geri was passionate for many things, from playing pitch with her friends to participating in Golden Years lunches and going to the XYZ dinners.  Her love for her family is unmatched, and she will be greatly missed.

Wilma J. Menz (Reeser) – February 1, 2019

Livonia:  Wilma passed peacefully surrounded by her family on February 1, 2019 at age 83.  Predeceased by her parents Chester and Rebecca Reeser and siblings; William Reeser, George Reeser, Helen Barrick, Donald Reeser, and Shirley Neitz.  Survived by children; Tom (Julie) Menz, Pam (Leroy) Clever, Diane (Brett) Colvin, Danny (Lacy) Menz, Jeff (Anne) Menz, Nancy (Stephen) Chase, and Ronny (Jean) Menz; sister Jean (Bill) Barrows; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Wilma enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren. She loved to travel, gardening, cooking, playing card games and organizing activities at her apartment community. She also loved the occasional trip to the casino! Wilma could make you laugh with her one-liners and jokes . She will be missed by many, but always in our hearts!

Donald L. Davis “Don” – February 1, 2019

Conesus:  Don passed peacefully on February 1, 2019 at age 83.  Predeceased by his parents Leo and Minnie Davis and his sister June Steele.  Survived by his wife of 33 years Donna (Marks) Davis; grandchildren, Bryan Weegar, Brock Thomason, and Garret Thomason; his sister Gloria (Bob) Bates of Rochester; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Don was born on June 9, 1935 in Rochester, NY to parents Leo and Minnie (Stoness) Davis.  He worked at Rochester Telephone Co. for over 40 years.  Don was a member of the Chili Fire Department and the Lakeville Fire Department serving as Fire Chief for one term.  He was a dedicated member of the Lakeville Volunteer Fire Department Exempt Club serving in many capacities.  Don enjoyed golfing, bowling, and could fix just about anything!

Robert Rowe Taylor – February 1, 2019

Conesus:  Rob passed peacefully at home, with his family by his side, on February 1, 2019 at age 65.  He was born in Wellsville, New York on June 12, 1953 to the late Robert E. and Dortha (Gordon) Taylor Zierak.  Survived by his wife of 45 years Marion (Gross) Taylor and children; Jacqueline (Brian) Lowry of IL, Justin Rowe Taylor of Livonia, and Robert Brewster Taylor of Conesus; grandchildren, Andrea Anastasia, Sean Lawrence, Paige Margaret, Oliver Rowe, and William Brewster; brother Richard Lee (Sheryl) Taylor of OH; several nephews & many other loving family and friends.

On Friday afternoon, February 1, 2019 a loving husband, father, grandfather and best friend went to heaven.

There were many times both good and bad that were celebrated together in the 45 years that he was married to his devoted wife, Marion.  Rob survived a massive heart attack in 1990 and had a quintuple bypass, then in 1999 his heart gave out and he received a heart transplant.  19 years later he learned he got cancer as a result of the medications that kept him alive.  He was blessed with 3 wonderful children, Jacqueline, Justin and Robert B.  God is good because he got to walk his daughter down the aisle when she got married, got to see 5 beautiful grandchildren, and he got to live the way he wanted.

He was a graduate to Boston University in 1975 and also married the same year.  He worked for many institutions as a development fundraiser, ran his own business, The Marlin Group, retired in 2006 and ended as a clerk at the Wadsworth Library in Geneseo, NY.  He was a member of the Conlon-Mulvaney American Legion in Conesus where he was active in the Sons of the American Legion.  Remember Rob for his love of family, music, and as an avid sports fan, especially the Patriots and the Red Sox.  May he now rest in peace and be with his Lord God for eternal life.  Until we meet again.

Mary Ellen Griffo ~ January 29, 2019

Livonia:  At age 82, Mary Ellen passed away peacefully on January 29, 2019 with her family by her side.   She was born in Angelica, NY to the late Leonard and Almeda Hargraves.  Mary Ellen is predeceased by her husband; Carmen Griffo, her son Charles Griffo and her sisters; Virginia McKnight and Beverlee Loper.  Survived by her children; Joseph Griffo of Gates, NC; John (Cindy) Griffo of Franklin, OH; and Charlene (Paul) Leistman of Livonia, NY; and her grandchildren;  Ricari, Jermayn, Jazzmyn, Michael, Desirea, Jacob Griffo, Samantha, and Rebecca Leistman.

A graduate of Alfred Almond High School, where she was a cheerleader all 4 years of high school, Mary Ellen went on to become a nurse at the Craig Colony in Sonyea, New York before her marriage to Carmen In April 1948. Shortly after marriage, Mary Ellen became a loving mother and homemaker whose life was dedicated to her family. In the years leading up to her passing, she was an avid reader, sewing enthusiast, cook, and baker.

Charlene, Paul, Samantha, and Rebecca lovingly cared for Mary Ellen in their home for the last 3 years of her life. Joe and John give them their greatest and most heart-felt gratitude.

Marie Noella Hughes ~ January 20, 2019

Avon NY – After a 95 year journey, Noella has arrived at her eternal home. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Alma (Audette) Smith, her husband Martin, son Daniel, daughter-in-law Mary, and her siblings. She is survived by her children – Michael (Theresa), James (Barbara), Annette (Chuck) Wands, Karen (Richard Clark) McKay, John, Mary Anne, Timothy (Theresa), Martin (Mary), William (Joan), Thomas (Fawn), daughter-in-law Carolee, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Noella graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1945. After a long career as a Registered Nurse, she retired from the Chemung County Nursing Facility as a Nursing Supervisor.

William G. Hoppough – January 19, 2019

Hemlock:  Bill went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2019, at age 80, after a short illness.  Predeceased by his parents Gordon and Dorothy Hoppough, sister Margaret (Burt) Treble, and aunt Thelma Hoppough.  Survived by his wife of 57 years Beverly (Benham) Hoppough and children; Darlene (Kevin) Henry of Hemlock, Daryl (Ana Lilia Gaxiola-) Hoppough of TX, Darrin Hoppough of Irondequoit, Kelly (Gene) Chichester of Hemlock, and Holly (Jeff) Godinez of TX; grandchildren, Corey (Margaret) Hoppough, Kayla (Mark) Bennett, Alicia Henry, Curtis Henry, Elizabeth Rivera, Daniela Rivera, Nathan Chichester, and Tanner Hoppough; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Joyce) Hoppough, Jean Hamilton, and Diane Case.  Also survived by many nieces & nephews, great-nieces & -nephews, and many dear friends, including his close friends John Scala, Fred Woodard, Harold Grundman, and Craig Yarnes.

Bill was born on June 12, 1938 to Gordon and Dorothy Hoppough of Hemlock, the fourth of five children.  He attended Hemlock High School where he enjoyed playing sports and other shenanigans not involving academics.  After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the U.S. island territory of Guam.  He rarely spoke of his service, but was a very patriotic veteran, and made sure his kids had respect for the flag and our country.  Upon returning to Hemlock, he married Beverly Benham on April 22, 1961.  They purchased a home on Main Street and spent many years remodeling it to accommodate their growing family.  Bill worked at Bernhardt Lumber in Hemlock for many years installing kitchens, baths, and doing general remodeling and carpentry. In 1980 he began working “trick shift” in the Silver Recovery department of Eastman Kodak in Rochester until his retirement. Besides being a loyal, hardworking, faithful and dependable husband, dad, uncle and friend, Bill was a great fan of hunting, fishing, the Cleveland Browns and NY Yankees.  He is listed in the NYS “Big Buck Club” for a deer he took in Richmond, NY. He attended every school play, chorus or band concert, basketball or little league game he could for his grandkids and was always supportive and genuinely interested in their lives.  He undertook an 8-year restoration of a 1949 Chevy pickup with his son-in-law Gene and won many trophies at local car shows.  He traveled south to help rebuild after hurricane destruction and to Alaska to help at a Christian summer camp.  Bill “rescued” many dogs over the years and always favored the hunting breeds.  He was active in the Hemlock Fire Department and served as chief in the 1970’s, was a faithful servant of the Lord, active in the United Methodist Church in Hemlock; enjoyed serving and helping others.  He set a great example for his children and grandchildren; his sense of humor and compassion will be greatly missed by all who knew and adored him.

Livonia:  January 17, 2019 at age 89.  Annette was born on April 8, 1929 in Rochester, NY to parents Michael & Laura (Smith) West.  She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas W. Daniel Anthony Clark – January 9, 2019

Honeoye:  Dan Clark passed away suddenly on January 9th.  He was born in Watertown, NY to John and Pauline Clark.  He moved to Bloomfield and graduated high school class of 1967.  Dan completed his electrician training at Monroe Community College.  He worked for Stone Construction and then opened his business, DAC Contractors, Inc. in Honeoye where he lived and raised his family.

Dan is survived by his wife, Beth Conversi Clark; his sons, Daniel (Heather), Joshua (Tori), and Jonathan (Deborah); his step children, Ryan, Joshua (Maria), Erin (Jered), and Hannah (Jon); his siblings Dawn Case (Mark), David, Donnie, Doug (Tera), and Dayne (Karen); and many nieces and nephews; his nine grandchildren, Adele, Sam, Willow, Ashley, Danielle, Olivia, Ben, Landen and Addison.  And Lola, his most beloved dog.

The world never knew a kinder man and he touched the lives of many.  He left us too soon and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

George F. Wood – January 8, 2019

Honeoye, NY:  George passed on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at his residence in Honeoye, at age 84.  He was born in Canandaigua, New York on February 11, 1934 to the late Herman G. and Cecelia (Keane) Wood.  Surviving is his sister; Mrs. Gary Fitzgerald (Rosemary) of Kenton, Ohio; two nieces, Mrs. John (Jane) Murray of Austin Texas, Mrs. James Newkirk (Peggy Sue) of Ada, Ohio and a Nephew, David M. (Jacqualine) Fitzgerald of Kenton, Ohio, and several great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean M. Wood and his nephew John. A. Fitzgerald.

George was a faithful servant to Lakeview Cemetery with tender loving care to the grave sites of friends, relatives and neighbors. Often he was seen trimming around their tomb stones or placing flowers.  He was a lifelong member of the Honeoye community and will be missed by many.

Sally A. Perovich Kludt – January 7, 2019

Galet on, PA:  At age 87, Sally passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 7, 2019 at Wellsville Manor.  She was born in Sabinsville, PA to the late Glenn and Bessie Carlin.  She is also predeceased by her daughter Gale Perovich.  Sally is survived by her children; Anita “Joy” Perovich, Sally (John) Morris, Mark (Susan) Perovich, Colonel (Susan) Perovich, her sisters; Bessie Dougherty, Faith Piraino and her grandchildren; Michelle (Jeff) Hagen, Melissa (Dan) Meleason, Nahtanha, Nikima, Tracey McCain, Timothy (Cindy) Hallman, Shannon (Scott) Giali, Stephen Hallman, Claire Perovich, Andrew Perovich, Mitchell Perovich, Nicole (Aaron) Sweeting, along with her great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

William A. Brown “Bill” – January 6, 2019

Livonia:  Bill passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at age 80.  He was born on January 30, 1938 to Benjamin &  Ruth Brown who predeceased him.  Survived by his wife of 55 years Ann (Briggs) Brown; son Gary (Carla) Brown of Henrietta and daughter Dana Brown (Mike Witkousky) of Conesus; grandsons Benjamin and David Brown; brother Richard Brown of FL; 1 niece, 2 nephews, and many other loving family and friends.

Bill attended Geneva High School and graduated in 1955.  While in school, he was an accomplished wrestler and won the sectional title.  He always had a love of sports which lasted his entire life.  Bill graduated from SUNY Oswego with a teaching degree and earned his Master’s Degree at SUNY Buffalo.  Bill had a 34 year teaching career at the Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School district where he taught industrial arts, carpentry, drafting, and architectural design.  He was an advisor for ski club, a coach, and helped many students learn how to drive.  Bill had a love of the outdoors, was an avid hunter, golfer, skier, card player, and Christmas tree farmer.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 10 th , from 5-7pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 20A, Livonia, NY where a memorial service will be held at 7pm, following the calling hours.  Interment will be held privately.  Memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to the Livingston County CNR, Activities Fund, 11 Murray Hill Drive, Mt.
