Keith G. Roberts ~ February 12, 2019

Honeoye:  Keith Roberts, age 80, passed away on February 12, 2019 after a long illness.  He was born in Montour Falls, NY to the late Claude and Grace Roberts.  Keith is survived by his wife, Penny, his sister; Ellen Goltry, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers; Milo and Stanley.

Keith was a master craftsman, teacher, and artist.  He used his creativity and skills as a woodworker for everything from tables, chairs, and cabinets to the building and remodeling of homes.  A graduate of SUNY Oswego and the RIT School of American Craftsmen, Keith’s unique “hanging chairs” received multiple honors.  Following his MFA degree at RIT, Keith studied design and cabinet making with a master craftsman in Sweden.  All of the knowledge, energy and talent made Keith a one-of-a-kind teacher at Honeoye Central School.  The student furniture projects that he inspired and mentored are still enjoyed by families throughout the community.  Keith had a tremendous sense of design to compliment his skillfully crafted pieces.  Regardless of the tasks, from fine woodworking, to remodeling of homes, to teaching young people, Keith applied all of his multiple talents.  His bright spirit and generous manner made being with Keith fun and rewarding.  He will be missed.

  1. I always enjoyed woodworking class when I was in school. He was a craftsman without compare and would bring out the best in his students, encouraging them to not settle for anything but the best they could do. In later years I worked for Penny and Keith, when the jobs grew to tough for Keith to handle and it was always a pleasure to see him.
