Rochester, NY: Passed away on July 2, 2014 at age 85. Predeceased by her husband Gerard Minnehan, Father (Charles) and Mother (Virginia), sister (Virginia) and Aunt (Margaret) Murphy. Survived by her children Ed, Tom, Terry, Michael, Ginger (Tony) Gadawski, Shawn and three daughter in laws; Susan, Cheryl, and Lori. She is survived by seventeen grandchildren and two great-grand children.

Mary Ann was the daughter of Charles and Virginia Murphy, a prominent Rochester defense attorney, and one of the original Kodak models. She graduated from Livonia, class of 1947, and attended Nazareth college. Mary Ann was a pioneer in the woman’s business world, entering the work force in the early 1960’s. Retired as the first female vice president of a national insurance company, Sedgewick James. In the 1970’s she was the national chairman of the woman’s task force for Aetna. She continued practicing until she was 82. Mary Ann loved spending time with her grandchildren at her homes in Stuart, Florida and in Rochester, New York. Starting in a golf league in 1960, she had an avid passion for the game until the final days of her life. She was a member of Latta Lee, Lake Shore C.C. and Brockport C. C. She enjoyed her time on the boards of St. Joseph’s Villa, and Holy Cross parish council. Mary Ann loved her friends, family and her community. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family members.

Bert was born in Honeoye on July 24, 1930 to parents Arthur & Mary Edna (Ace) Treble. He was predeceased by four sisters:Althea (Michael) Bilous, Doris (James) Cochrane, Mary (Joseph) Watson, Joyce (Ezra) Barrett and brother Arthur Ace Treble. He was a 1948 graduate of Honeoye Central School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Bradley University, Peoria, IL, in business administration and retailing. He served his country in the US Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. He was a charter member of the Honeoye Lake Rotary Club, past Trustee of the Lakeview Cemetery Association, former Town of Richmond Councilman, member of the Honeoye United Church of Christ, member of the Eagle Masonic Lodge where he achieved the position of District Deputy Grand Master in 1974, past Commander of the Honeoye-Hemlock American Legion Post, and member of the Honeoye Chamber of Commerce.

HONEOYE — Jeanne Wright Angelo (Kilian) passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014, at home, with her family by her side, at the age of 73. Jeanne fought a valiant battle against cancer. Jeanne was predeceased by many loved ones, including her sisters, June O’Dell, Janice Wright and Joyce Coykendall; and brothers-in-law Thomas Angelo and H. W. O’Dell. Jeanne is survived and cherished by her husband of nearly 45 years, Ralph F. Angelo Jr., Richmond town supervisor; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Fritz Kilian of Webster and their four daughters,Tessa, Teagan, Telaney and Tallyn; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph K. and Megan Angelo of Honeoye Falls and their four children, Dilan, Drew, Luke and Shaye; brother, Verne Wright of Mobile, Ala.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack Coykendall, Frances (Wally) VanDeBogart, Rachel (Vic) Thayer, Annie (Donald) Schunk, William Angelo, Ricardo Angelo, Jake Angelo and Kathi Czebatol; many nieces and nephews, including Kelly Bailey who provided tender care in her final days and hours; and many special friends, including her partner in crime and longtime friend, Bonnie Sykes.

Jeanne was born in Bristol and was the daughter of the late Fred and Myrtle (Morrill) Wright and raised by Keith and Dahlia Pierce. She moved to Lima with her aunt and uncle when she lost her mother at the age of three. She graduated from Lima High School in 1959, then Grove City College in 1963. She taught math in Angola, Bloomfield and most of her career in Honeoye. She was a well-loved math teacher, class advisor and bowling coach. She was a president of Womens Republican Club of Richmond and Canadice. She also was a town clerk, town council woman and water district and fire district secretary in Honeoye. Her ultimate joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She was the kindest, most generous, selfless person you could meet and she will be greatly missed. Joe was born on October 9, 1949 in Rockville Center, NY to parents Nicholas & Marion (Murray) Fischer. Joe graduated from St. Joseph’s, Long Island, NY in 1963, Sachem High School in 1967, and SUNY Geneseo in 1971 where he received his English teaching degree. He began teaching in West Irondequoit High School in 1972. Joe was a dedicated and gifted teacher and brought humor, motivation, and adventure into the classroom.

Joe was a fun, life-loving Irishman with an awesome sense of humor, a great laugh, and a love of teaching, music, literature, and drama. Joe was a member of the “Mutt Men” which was a group of friends from elementary school that he stayed in touch with over the years. In high school, he had leading rolls in productions of “Harvey” and the “Death of a Salesman” and also toured with the high school choral group. Joe went on to have lead roles in “Spoon River Anthology” & “Seamark” productions. He sang beautifully and started the BLACK VELVET BAND, directed many student plays, and participated in plays for Rochester Community Theater. He also coordinated and developed programs for the Irondequoit Radio Curriculum, as well as doing voiceovers for WXXI. As a member of the Irondequoit Teachers, he helped plan and write for teacher celebrations; birthdays, retirements, and holidays. The only one he didn’t was “his retirement party!” Joe was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Dave (Linda), Gary (Mary), Mark (Lani). She enjoyed 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Besides her family, she loved the lake, her bridge club, and playing dominoes on the porch while the sun set over the lake. Not many can think of McPherson’s point without fond memories of “Winnie”. We will cherish these memories forever, and carry her with us in our hearts. Her strength was infinite, her smile contagious and her spirit will live on through us all. Rest in peace, beautiful.

Laura was born on January 22, 1940 in Canandaigua to parents Floyd and Dorothea (Jerome) Kingsley. Laura was predeceased by her father in 1945. Dorothea went on to marry Claude Dragt, who became a loving step father to Laura and provided her with a much loved sister, Virginia (Dragt) Connors. Laura graduated in 1958 from Honeoye Central School and held a variety of jobs in the Rochester area until 1970, when daughter Teresa was born. In 1974, Laura moved back home to Honeoye. She is retired from the 3M company where she was employed in both the Honeoye and Rochester plants. After her retirement from 3M, she was employed at Honeoye Central School as a bus driver until illness forced her to retire in 2008. Outside of work, Laura enjoyed working in her yard, knitting and crocheting and spending time with family. Some of the happiest days in her life, were the past 11 years since she became a grandmother. “Granny Laura,” as she fondly became known, loved and doted on her grandchildren above all else and was happy any time she could be with them for special events, holidays, travel and everyday occasions. Her illness brought her to live in Belfast with her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Aran, along with the grandkids, and she lived out her days surrounded by their love and care.

On Valentine’s Day 1920, in Frankfort, Ohio, Jane was born to Rev. Ray C. and Cora Lasher McMillan. Her siblings were Sylvia Reese and Charles and John McMillan. Jane moved to Lakeville from Ohio after marrying Allen in 1948. She was an active member of Lakeville United Church of Christ and Livonia Order of Eastern Star for over 60 years. As her family grew up she worked as a substitute teacher at Livonia Central Elementary School and played piano accompaniment for school choruses. Jane gave piano lessons at her home for many years and sang in the Lakeville UCC choir.

Jane’s love of music and life was evident in her generous spirit and loving heart and by the great number of people who called her “friend.” Her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Dansville/Boca Raton, FL: Kameron P. Mason, born September 28, 1952 in Batavia, New York passed away on June 6, 2014, in Boca Raton, Florida where he had happily made his home for the last fourteen years of his life and was intimately invested in the lives of his daughter Jennine and her two boys, Joseph and Anthony Fabiani, to whom he was affectionately known as “Bapa”.

Kam lived most of his early years on Conesus Lake where he was something of a daredevil for water sports and anything else involving speed or risk including an early career driving pace horses in Batavia and Buffalo. Ever the showman, he reveled in driving racecar #23 using the moniker, “The Undertaker”. He grew up hunting and fishing in the hills of Western New York with his father, Nelson and brother, Kirk. He passed along this love of the outdoors to his son Kevin and both grandsons.

Kam attended Livonia Central School and then pursued a lifetime desire to become a funeral director when he attended Simmons School of Embalming and Mortuary Science in Syracuse, NY; apprenticed at Gormley Funeral home in Phoenicia, NY and went on to become part owner of John W. Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris and then Chamberlin Funeral Home in Dansville, NY with long-time friend and partner Kevin Dougherty. He often remarked that he was privileged to have loved the work that he did including the grief counseling that he felt was inherently necessary for families in times of loss. Kam was a proud Rotarian with connections in both Mt. Morris and Dansville where he and his former wife Sue (Scardilla) Vernam were enthusiastically and civically involved and where they raised their two children Kevin and Jennine.

Kam will long be remembered for his raucous gift of humor, his fearless sense of adventure and his adherence to living life on his own terms without apology. For all who loved him, the world will be a little less colorful and exciting without him. He is predeceased by parents, Nelson and Barbara Mason and brother Kevin. Surviving family include: Jennine (Mason) Fabiani and grandsons Joseph and Anthony of Boca Raton, Florida; son Kevin Mason of Rochester; brother Kirk (Danuta) Mason of Dunedin Florida; Kathie (Mason) Briggs and her children Kiersten and Nicholas King, of Syracuse; Mason and Proctor cousins in the US and Canada and close friends in Dansville, Livonia and Mt. He belonged to the Trials Riders in Md, Pa, and NY and rode in the Vintage Trials Class. In 1999 he was ranked 2nd in the Nation for the Intermediate Class Hare Scramble. He also raced Motocross in his earlier years. Growing up on Conesus Lake gave him a love for boats and motors too. He could fix any motor and make it run like new.

Also plants and gardening kept her busy. She would try any hobby that caught her attention. She always wanted to help anyone in need including animals that she always wanted to take home. Nancy, So many words come to mind when thinking of her…Her love of lighthouses, the sea, fishing and shells, her rock collections, mac and cheese, Christmas, dancing, and her love of animals. Anyone who knew Nancy knew the most important thing to her was and always will be her family. A mother of 6, grandmother of 11, great grandmother of 13 and a great great grandmother of 4, Nancy devoted her time to being involved with her family and insisted on doing it with a style like no other. I truly believe the only way to get hurt in this life is to care. Nancy cared more than most, loved more than most and was made to suffer more than most because of just how much she cared. No matter what she was faced with in life, there were never any complaints or bitterness… She just loved and she loved with everything she had. The memories that are attached to this woman and her life cannot be broken down in to any small statement, Nancy lived life loud, colorful, flashy and full of sequins. She lived brave and never let anything stop her from being her true self. Her sassy outspoken attitude was her way of life and because of that so many of us have learned to smile through the hardest times. Canandaigua: May 26, 2014 at age 64. Survived by his wife of 36 years Nancy (Becker) Swanson. Children; Christina Swanson of Boston, MA and Neil Swanson of Canadice. Brother Gaylord (Alison) Swanson of Clarksville, and Niece Stacey Swanson of Albany. Graydon was a US Navy Veteran, a loving husband and caring father. He will be remembered for his warm and wonderful sense of humor.

Graydon N. Swanson was born on September 26th, 1949 to parents Lois and Oscar Swanson of Frewsburg, NY. Early on he had diverse interests, enjoying everything from music and tap dancing to car repair, shooting and a bit of pyromania. Graydon attended Frewsburg High School where he ran track and was part of the debate team. He is most remembered in high school for helping his friend Jim, who was partially handicapped from Polio, move from class to class.

Graydon attended The College at Brockport earning a degree in Earth Science. Afterwards, he had hoped to complete a doctorate in geology, but ended up joining the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Graydon served 14 years in the US Navy as a Supply Corp officer. The Navy took him to many exciting places including tours in Egypt, the Philippines, Antarctica and Italy. From these travels, he collected many stories and a couple treasures.

By far the best treasure that Graydon “collected” on his journey was his wife Nancy Swanson. Graydon and Nancy met early on at the edge of the Erie Canal just a few months after he had graduated from college and she had begun. Nancy had a term paper to write on the canal. Graydon was working on the canal for a few months. A conversation began. A double date was suggested. A spark was stirred. And six years later, marriage was proposed.

While life bumped happily along for a while, the quiet was not to last. At the age of 30, Graydon was out running on the track and his left leg gave out. This happened again and again. He mentioned it to his doctor, who referred him to a Neurologist. Without the modern day MRIs, six years passed before the doctors could confirm he had Multiple Sclerosis (MS). While MS would eventually steal his mobility, his independence, and eventually his life, it was this grave struggle that also highlighted Nancy and Graydon’s strength as a couple and as individuals.

During this time, Graydon and Nancy raised two children, Neil Swanson of Springwater, NY and Christina Swanson of Boston, MA. Although struggling with the symptoms of his disease and his decreasing mobility, Graydon dutifully took care of the children while Nancy worked full-time for the US Navy. He helped them write books, complete homework, build tree forts and learn how to swim. He even learned how to braid hair! But as Graydon’s condition worsened, the tables turned and Nancy, Christina and Neil began to care for him. During his final years, Nancy cared for him daily in their home demonstrating the meaning of unconditional love. Together they remained optimistic and faced the hardships of the disease with humor and love.

As a loyal husband, a loving father, and a Naval veteran, Graydon N. Swanson will be dearly missed.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at 11am at the Canadice Methodist Church, 5949 Canadice Hill Road, Canadice, NY. Jerry from a very young age loved the outdoors. He spent as much time there as he could, watching the clouds go by, listening to the birds sing, trying to identify the species. Walking in the woods, fishing, hunting, whatever it took to find his “peaceful place”. He became a tour guide in Montana, taking people on hunting expeditions for elk, deer, bear whatever they wanted all while riding a horse and camping under the stars. After he became disabled he continued to do what he loved even though many times it became difficult, using a golf cart for mobility he still hunted. He became a wildlife rehabilitator, caring for orphaned or injured wildlife, he even had a cat (Quazi) that was “different” and they had a special bond. He took in birds, turtles, squirrels, etc. but as everyone who knew him, his favorite were the fawns. He cared for one two days before his death. We know he is in heaven accepting all the animals that have passed and know he can now walk in the woods, listen to the birds all without being in pain. He will always be in our hearts and there will not be a day that goes by that we won’t think of him. May he rest in his “peaceful place”. Love you always Lynne, Rebecca and Zachary

Alan was a US Army Veteran who served his country proudly. During his service he was stationed in Okinowa, Japan. He moved to Silver Lake, NY in 1984 where he opened and owned his own business, Wyoming Glass, for over thirty years. Alan and his former wife Gail “Abby” Stringham, who predeceased him, had two loving children Peter and Casey. He later married Shari Stringham and moved to Culyerville, NY. Alan enjoyed spending time working on projects in his garage and going on road trips with his dog. Alan will be sincerely missed by his family, friends and loyal dog, Doc.

Bev was born in Rochester, NY on July 31, 1934 to parents Harold & Erma (Frank) Bohm. She married Floyd Embling in 1954 and they have been together ever since. Floyds famous words were always “yes dear.” She was an employee for Kemps Bus Service and was a driver for the Livonia Central School District for many years. She was an avid bowler for and also enjoyed taking care of the cats and knitting. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren. She was a volunteer and driver for meals on wheels. Bev loved to travel and enjoyed many trips across the country. She and Floyd made many trips with Judy’s Travel in Mt. Morris, NY. Bev will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Livonia/East Rochester: Born on October 23, 1912 and died May 13, 2014 at age 101 years. She is survived by her daughter Marcia (Richard) Wilke of Pittsford. Grand-daughters; Barbara (James) Nelson of Penfield and Joanne Wilke (husband Michael Toscarelli) of Hoboken, NJ. 4 Great-grandchildren; Connor, Trevor, Harper, and Audrey Nelson. Several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mary was born in 1912 in Livonia Center, NY at her family home to parents Leonard & Fannie (Hathaway) Coykendall. Her father was present for her birth because it was too windy to thrash. Suzanne Hill still lives in that same home. Mary died at her granddaughters home in Penfield, NY on May 13, 2014.

As a child she attended a 2 room school house in Livonia Center. High School was in the Livonia at the new centralized school. She walked or rode on the back of the milk truck to get there. She was the last surviving member of the class of 1930. She attended the Geneseo Normal School for 1 year.

She married Howard H. Jewell of Livonia on August 27, 1939. Their daughter Marcia was born in 1942. Mary became the Livonia Deputy Town Clerk when her father Leonard B. Coykendall became the town clerk in 1942. When she became the town clerk, upon the death of her father in 1959, she was also named village clerk, collector of Livonia School taxes, collector of water district bills, and secretary for the Livonia Park. She retired in 1976 as town clerk and village clerk in 1978.

Mary was also an accomplished seamstress making wedding gowns, suits, men’s sports jackets, children’s clothes, and doll clothes. Knitting was one of her favorite pastimes. She made scarves, hats. afghans for several schools, church sales, and organizations. She has been a member of the Grange, Eastern Star DAR, and the Hathaway Family Geological Society. She lived in 13 different homes before moving to East Rochester in 1980 to be nearer to her family. She became active in the East Rochester United Methodist Church, East Rochester Seniors, Oasis, and the Southeast YMCA.

A Memorial service for Mary will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 2pm at the East Rochester United Methodist Church, 357 Fairport Road, East Rochester, NY 14445. A reception at the church will follow Mary’s service. Burial will be held privately at Union Cemetery, Livonia, NY.
