Honeoye: Le Roy E. Sammis, 84 years, of Huff Road, Honeoye, NY died Thursday October 14, 2010, at Canandaigua Veterans Hospital in Canandaigua, NY. He was born in Huntington, Long Island, NY December 9, 1926, the son of Le Roy and Margaret Lane Sammis. He served his Country in World War Two from 1944 being Honarably Discharged on April 28, 1947, as a Seaman Second Class in The US Navy. He operated his own landscape business in Honeoye for many years. Roy was a lifetime member of the Honeoye-Hemlock American Legion Post #1278 and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He was a gifted artist, who loved animals and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Loraine Sackett Sammis; daughter, Rachel Sammis (Jeff DeWall) of Honeoye; 2 grandchildren, Devin and Rainbow. brother-in-law, Kenneth Werder of Honeoye; sister-in-law, Ann Stonewell of West Bloomfield, NY. Hemlock: James E. Reamore, 67 years, of Old Bald Hill Road, Hemlock died Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Highland Hospital in Rochester,NY after a lengthy illness. He was born in Gouverneur, NY, July 16, 1943. the son of Errol A. and Marguerite Hull Reamore. He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1961, and was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also was a gun collector and took a great deal of interest in photography. Prior to retiring, he was a tool and die maker at Bausch-Lomb in Rochester.

Margaret (Witkousky) Mazzochi, 86 years of Geneseo, NY died early Tuesday morning, October 12, 2010 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, NY. She was born in Manhattan, NY, March 11, 1924, the daughter of John and Mary Baroni Mazzochi. She was employed as a secretary for many years by Burns Detective Agency.

Hendersonville, NC, formerly of Livonia, NY – Lois B. Wingate, 79, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 29, 2010. She was born in Lakeville, NY March 29, 1931 the daughter of Harry and Agnes Beach. Lois married George Wingate in 1948. She is survived by three daughters; Sandra (Lance) Jischke of Livonia, Cheryl (Wayne) Pletcher of Mooresville, NC, and Barb (Mike) Koral of Hendersonville, NC. She was blessed with five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Lois graduated from Livonia High School, raised a family and owned a catering business, a beauty shop and a sewing business in Livonia before her retirement. In retirement, she and George split their time between homes in Plant City, FL and Cape Vincent, NY before settling in Hendersonville, NC near her two daughters. She was a member of the Fruitland United Methodist Church. Lois enjoyed singing in the church choir and the JOY singers, volunteering, sewing, crafts, baking and spending time with her friends and family. She was a very busy lady.

A memorial service was held in NC. At a future date, she will be buried by George’s side in Union Cemetery, Livonia. She was predeceased by her son Lawrence Kleinhans who died in 1968 while serving his country in the Viet Nam War. Helen Marie Henry-Tobias, 78, of Crystal River, Florida, formerly of Lakeville passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at Hospice of Citrus County. She was born in Pueblo, Colorado August 15, 1932, daughter of Harvey and Lenora Schroyer Richards. Her husband, John Henry Sr., and son, Ronald Henry, precede her in death. Helen retired from Kraft Foods, Avon, in 1991. She loved her family, playing and cheating at cards, sending and receiving greeting cards (never missed a birthday), crocheting, and big bowls of popcorn and potato chips. She enjoyed doing word searches, dancing, shopping, traveling and talking on the phone. She would cook spaghetti for all her boys, including Fred Nettnin and Floyd Watkins. There were numerous extended kids who called her Ma.

Leasures in Lakeville, and was employed as an insurance agent, bookkeeper and bank teller. She and Robert G. Webb were married April 27, 1957 in Avon. Bev was a member of the Livonia United Methodist Church,The Rebekahs, and Home Bureau. Bev was avid card player, enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, raising calves, sewing, canning, freezing, and raising her family. She was a sports fan who especially enjoyed following the Livonia boys and girls basketball teams.

He was born in Buffalo, NY, September 28, 1925 the son of Louis and Catherine Fitzner Schreckenberger Sr. His wife Dolores predeceased him on May 9, 2009.
Louis served his country in the US Navy during World War II as a signalman. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Continental Baking Company as a salesman. Once retired, he spent his winters in Palm Harbor, Florida and summers on Honeoye Lake. He was an avid sports fan and outdoorsmen. He enjoyed reading and playing cards.

He was born in Providence, R.I., October 25, 1944 the son of William and Thelma Scott Koehlein. His wife Nancy, predeceased him on November 14, 2005. He was a man who possessed great work ethic, retiring from Eastman Kodak Co. in 1991 and then went on to another career at Christa Construction where he had been working right up to his illness. Both Gary and his wife Nancy, were very, very active in the Honeoye Womens Softball League, serving as a lifetime coaches and supporters, along with several other capacities with both their children and now grandchildren playing. He loved sports, hunting and of course, Honeoye Lake, which he lived on his whole life.

He is survived by his daughters, Shelley Vieira (Mark Sacco) of Honeoye and Sherry Chastian of Livonia. 4 grandchildren, Taylor and Katelynne Chastian, Jordan and Jonathan Vieira. 3 brothers, Greg Koehnlein of Honeoye, Gene (Linda) Koehnlein of Honeoye and Glen (Martha) Koehlnlein of Sarasota, FL. several nieces and nephews. also,Ken Chastian, Jay Vieira and Carrie Bennett.

South Lima: Ethel M. Olyer, 84 years of Garden St. South Lima, (Avon), NY died Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Livingston County Center for Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing in Mount Morris, NY. She was born in West Clarksville,NY, October 27, 1925 the daughter of Jesse and Eva Briggs Borden. Along with being a homemaker, she was employed by Star Diner,Ames, Avon Inn, Avon Nursing Home and she retired from the Marriott. Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Morris; daughter, Betty Olyer, son-in-law, Arthur Price and 3 brothers.

She is survived by her children, Diana Price of South Lima, Bev Olyer of Mount Morris, and Laura Olyer of Geneseo. 3 grandchildren, Scott (Melanie) Fitt of Webster, Wanda Bordeen of Buffalo and Sarah VanDurme of Dansville. 2 great grandchildren. brother, Richard Borden of Cuba, NY. several nieces and nephews.

Theresa A. Shelly McBride

Rochester, NY, Monday, August 30, 2010 at age 90. She was predeceased by spouses John W. Shelly and Henry Mc Bride. She is survived by her son, John Timothy Shelly, sisters – in – law Effie Steingasser, A. Mildred Parmelee and Rosemary A. Shelly, numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was a retired social worker from the State School at Industry, New York.

Theresa (Terry) Anna Rose Steingasser was born in Tonawanda, NY. Her family moved to Cheese Factory Road in Honeoye Falls, NY when she was young. After graduating from Honeoye Falls, she had several jobs; selling candy at a local store in Honeoye Falls, working at the Kodak Hawkeye plant during the war, and then as a social worker at Industry, NY. She and John Shelly were married on May 29, 1943 at St. Michael’s Church in Livonia Center. Their first “home” was 117 Big Tree Street in Livonia where they resided with John’s sisters Theresa, Catharine, Millie and brother Ed. The front parlor in the house was their living room. They lived many places over the years — Cadyville, Sibleyville, and Rush. John and Terry were Cottage Parents at Industry, a state run home for 25 young boys. When John retired due to his disability, she became the Head Housekeeper overseeing all the cottages at Industry. Following John’s death, Terry moved back to Honeoye Falls for several years before migrating to Lake Placid, Florida and marrying Henry Mc Bride. Upon his death, Terry purchased a smaller home in Lake Placid and remained there until October, 2009 when she returned north and resided at Fleming Point, a beautiful senior living center in Greece, NY.
Terry was a loving wife, mother, aunt and friend. She had a special style, grace, warmth, and caring for others that showed in everything that she did. She will always be remembered for her thoughtful and caring nature as well as her great German Chocolate cakes with chocolate icing and walnuts, a favorite at all Shelly gatherings. Terry handled all of life’s challenges with grace and dignity, especially as she lovingly cared for John as well as her parents. Her acceptance of life’s challenges, including her recent ill health, reflected her faith in the Lord.
Her family takes comfort in the happiness of knowing that she is with the Lord. We are especially grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family and friends. We are deeply indebted to the wonderful staff and volunteers at Sunset House, a home which exists to provide support and care for people in the last phase of an incurable illness.
