He retired from the Town of Richmond Highway Department, loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports, had a love of animals, and enjoyed playing cards with friends.

Honeoye: Lena Jane (Rowley) Cratsley passed peacefully on March 10th at the age of 86. She was predeceased by Alfred, her husband of 66 years, her parents Gilbert & Annabelle Rowley, brother Gilbert Rowley and her sister, Edna Ingerick. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Thayer, Bruce Cratsley, Betsy (Don) Shaw and Brian Cratsley, 6 grandchildren; Raphael, Adrian, Todd, Tammy, Benjamin & Emily, 6 great grandchildren, brother-in-law & sister-in-law Arthur & Priscilla Cratsley, brother-in-law Joseph Ingerick & several nieces & nephews.

Fondly known as Jane, she was born in Webster on February 9, 1932. At the age of 4, her parents moved back to Richmond on Reed Road where she grew up. At the age of 16 she met Al Cratsley at a dance in Hemlock, fell in love and married at the age of 18 on June 13, 1950.

Al & Jane were a team throughout their marriage. In the early years, they owned an excavation business – installing wells, driveways, septic systems & breakwalls all the around the area. After injuring his back, Al moved onto roofing and siding. Jane learned to measure and cut shingles & siding and helped Al do the installing. Then in 1965, they opened Cratsley Bait Farm. Jane stayed home and ran the business, selling live bait & tackle and renting boats. When age would no longer let them do the roofing/siding and bait business, they closed both and went on the road selling gourmet meats door to door for Anchors Away in the southern tier and northern Pennsylvania. Jane was the navigator, remembering where all their customers were located and keeping Al from getting lost. As age and health issues took over, they stayed home and Jane became Al’s caregiver while she battled her own issues. They would enjoy playing dominoes and other games and watching college basketball.

Jane had always wanted to be a nurse so when the Richmond Fire Dept opened their company to women, she joined and became a member of the ambulance squad. For 35 years, she and Al would drop everything and run out the door to a call. Jane was always proud that she had delivered a baby. She also was elected as treasurer and held the position for 37 years and 8 years for the exempt club.

Jane enjoyed deer hunting & fishing with Al and she was very good at both. She loved the outdoors and was always found working in her garden and flowerbeds or watching her kids and grandchildren play in the yard. Visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren were always the highlight of her day. Jane also loved to crochet and made over 30 sets of afghans/pillows and loved to crochet doilies. You could always find Jane in the kitchen baking delicious banana nut bread, kneading dough for rolls, or making a pot of soup. At harvest time she would be canning stewed tomatoes, making tomato soup, spaghetti sauce and yes of course, her famous cinnamon pickles.

Canadice: Passed peacefully at home on March 9, 2018 at age 82. Predeceased by his parents Everett and Caroline (Blackmer) Affolter. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Jane (Ohol) Affolter and children; Sondra (Brian Conway) Affolter, Renee (Omar) Baki, Christopher (Heather) Affolter, and Michelle (Romney) Lima; grandchildren, Omar, Dany, Zane, Caroline, Anna, Erick, Nicole, Bruna, and Milana. Also survived by his sister Mary Pestle, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Clark grew up in Canadice, NY and graduated from Honeoye Central School in 1953 where he lettered in football and basketball. He attended Cornell University and earned an associate’s degree in agriculture. Following graduation, Clark stayed in Ithaca and started his professional career managing one of the dairy barns that was part of Cornell’s Agricultural program. In 1976, Clark accepted a position with Eastern AI, where he worked for the next 24 years as a supervisor of their young sire complex. In his spare time, Clark could be found biking around the Finger Lakes region or twirling Jane around the dance floor. He also enjoyed attending many of the local fairs throughout the region. But his biggest passion was being involved in his kid’s sports. If he wasn’t coaching, he could always be found in the stands, usually being the loudest supporter on the sidelines.

Clark retired in 2000 and moved back to the family homestead in Canadice with Jane. He spent his time hiking the hills at Harriet Hollister and many of the other state parks in the region with the Rovers Hiking Club. He also loved to take road trips through the countryside to take-in the beauty of the local farming landscape. Clark was always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend, neighbor, or family member in need. He kept up his passion for sports by following many of the Honeoye High School sports teams no matter what the season.

Lima: Diana, a resident of Lima, NY, passed away peacefully at the Teresa House in Geneseo, NY on March 8, 2018 at the age of 72.

Diana grew up in the Town of Parma, NY (in Hilton). She was the daughter of Victor and Marion Anderson and sister to Judith Rapelje. In 1963, she graduated from Hilton High School in Hilton, NY. Early on, she worked at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY. During this time she met her husband James H. Stevenson and they were married in 1967 at the Hilton Baptist Church. Their son Eric J. Stevenson was born in 1972 and their second son Brett J. Stevenson was born in 1977. In 1985 she started working with her sister Judith, at The 1812 Country Store in Hemlock, NY. She always felt very lucky to be able to spend so much time with her sister, doing a job she loved, in a place that became the focal point for her family. She also worked at the Sullivan Insurance Company in downtown Honeoye Falls, NY where she grew close to many people in the community.

Diana was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was giving and selfless. Even near the end, she always had a gentle smile and kind word for everyone around her. She loved her family and pets more than life itself. She kept her home open to everyone, making sure her children and their friends always felt welcome. Many of her children’s friends felt she was their second mother. She will be missed, but her love, compassion, and kindness will live on through her children, grandchildren, and everyone whose lives she touched.

Diana is survived by her husband, James H. Stevenson and her sister Judith Rapelje. Her son, Eric J. Stevenson and his wife Bonnie Tamarin, live in Apex, NC with their daughters Liana and Kyra Stevenson. Her son Brett J. Stevenson and his wife Elizabeth “Anna” Stevenson (Quimby) live in Lima, NY with their daughter Skylar Stevenson.

Livonia: Vesta L. Forshee of Livonia, passed away peacefully at the age of 96, Saturday, March 3, 2018, with her loving family at her side. Vesta will be remembered as a compassionate Christian who touched the lives of many. She graduated from Fredonia State College and began teaching in Canaseraga in 1947. Vesta loved reading, travel, friends and family.

Livonia: February 28, 2018 at age 74 after a valiant battle with cancer. Conesus: Barbara L. Stewart passed away peacefully on February 25, 2018 at the age of 88. Honeoye: Kathy passed away peacefully on February 24, 2018 at age 59, with family by her side after a brief illness. She is predeceased by her parents; Donald and Elizabeth; her step “Ma”, Alice Kuhn, Aunt Dorothy Kuhn; and her son, Sean P. Kathy was a breast cancer survivor, a loving mother, and caregiver to anyone who needed one. She also attended hundreds of games and events to support her son’s and grandchildren who participated in multiple sports, mainly lacrosse, and competing at the youth, high school, and collegiate levels. She often would jump in the car and drive several hours on her own to attend no matter what the climate.

Dick lived for his sons, grandsons, and family. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed teaching hunters safety for both gun and bow. Dick was a back yard mechanic fixing whatever he could including auto body work. If he couldn’t fix it, it couldn’t be fixed.

Sondra loved gardening, reading, quilting and crafts. Her family was her life and was very proud of each of them. Sondra was a fighter, she faced all of her challenges head on and always taught us to never give up. She is a hard act to follow.

Fairport: Jean passed peacefully with her family at her side on February 18, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents Frederick & Flora Fisher. Survived by her sister Lu Stevens of Salt Spring Island, B.C. and her two nephews Paul Schwingle of Naples, NY and Andrew Stevens of Victoria, B.C. Also survived by numerous cousins and friends.

Jean retired from Xerox after 37 years of service. Jean’s work was recognized by receiving several awards of excellence throughout her career. In her teen years Jean became the 1957 4-H New York State Bread Champion.

Most recently Jean cared for her mother at FF Thompson Continuing Care Center. After her mother passed Jean became the “Candy Cart Lady” for years which she enjoyed very much. Jean will be missed by her family and many, many close friends.

Jack was born February 15, 1945 in North Tonawanda, NY the son of the late Donald and Elizabeth Centner. He and Carolyn were married on January 22, 1966 in Grace Church in North Tonawanda, NY and have celebrated 52 years of marriage. Jack had been employed as an Industrial Arts Teacher at Wayland Central School where he retired from in 1996. After retiring from the school, he was employed at The Furniture Doctor in Bloomfield for 4 years. Then he went on to be a Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of South Bristol where he had worked 10 years, retiring in February of 2011. He also ran a gun shop in Naples for 3-4 years. He enjoyed spending time at Honeoye Lake, fishing and boating. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Conesus: Jim passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2018 at age 79, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his parents Jim and Marion (Waden) Stewart, brother Larry Stewart, and his sisters Arlene Nowack and Carol Gouthro. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara (Rankin) Stewart; children, Dave (Chrissy), Bob (Monica), Patty (Chris) Genthner; grandchildren, Molly, Hayley, Kelsey, Robbie, Lucas, Tom, Nathan, Jillian, and Natalie; sisters, Diane Stewart and Donna (Gene) Morsch, sister-in-law Dotty Stewart, and Aunt Esther Sharpe. Jim taught in Dansville for 31 years and also coached the cross country team for 26 years. He will be remembered for his kindness to others, his calm demeanor and his love of his family and friends.

Jim was a member of the Conesus United Church for over 50 years, served in the US Navy from June 1957 until January 1962, served as a Conesus Fire Commissioner for 21 years, and was the Conesus Zoning Inspector for many years. He was elected to the Section V Cross Country Hall of Fame for coaching and was also inducted into the Dansville Central School Hall of Fame. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports, loved the Buffalo Bills, the New York Yankees, and Syracuse Basketball. He was a score keeper for the Wayland-Cohocton Softball Team for 25 years and was the time keeper for the Honeoye Cross Country Team. Jim also enjoyed to work at the Hemlock Fair in the sawmill, liked hunting, working in the barn, and enjoyed nature.

Avon/Daytona Beach, FL: Kathy passed peacefully surrounded by her family on February 6, 2018, at age 64, after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by daughter Naomi Ruth McNichols. Survived by her husband of 42 years, Walter James McNichols III and children; Patricia (Mark) Guenther of Livonia, Caleb McNichols (Shanah Alexander) of FL, Kevin McNichols (Krista Berry) of Rochester, Samuel (Karen) McNichols of Rochester, Joshua McNichols of Rochester; parents Ernest and Naomi Morris of FL; siblings, Patty (Neal) Davis of FL, Stacy Morris (Ken Kasten) of FL, and Maria (Dan) Hartsough of IL. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Kathy graduated from Father Lopez High School, Daytona Beach, Florida, class of 1971. She attended University of Florida, “Go Gators”. Kathy graduated from Daytona Beach Community College with an Associates Degree in Psychology and graduated with an AAS from Genesee Community College. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital. Kathy won the “Spirit of Nursing” award and “Employee of the Month” award.

She played softball in a girl’s league in her youth and loved watching all sports. Kathy loved watching Notre Dame football with her Dad, playing basketball hoops with her sons and loved playing with her doggies.

Kathy was a very loving and kind person and was a Certified Counselor to help those in need. Kathy had a terrific sense of humor and a wonderful outlook on life. She had a unique, crazy life and she said she “wouldn’t change a thing”. She was ready to “move on up” to Heaven to be with Jesus and see Naomi Ruth, Aunt Alice, Grandma Painter and her beloved dog, Gracie.

Kathy’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 10th, 1:00pm at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 96 Prospect Street, Avon, NY. Burial Avon Cemetery, Avon. Livonia: Peacefully on February 3, 2018 at age 82. Predeceased by his wife Alice (Clark) Kosakowski in 2000. Survived by his loving companion Betty Gallagher; children, Rick Kosakowski (Rosemarie Maldonado) of GA, Linda (Walter) Masiewicz of Buffalo, Stacey (Mark) Lewis of Pittsford, and Mark (Christine) Kosakowski of Livonia; grandchildren, Elyse Kosakowski, Brandon Kosakowski, Jason Masiewicz, Marissa Lewis, Kevin Lewis, Zachary Kosakowski, and Jeremy Kosakowski. Also survived by his brother Fran (Ellie) Kosakowski, nieces & nephews, and several close friends.

Dick was born on February 27, 1935 in Rochester, NY to parents John and Mildred (Nickerson) Kosakowski. He graduated from Livonia High School in 1953. Shortly after he married Alice Clark Kosakowski and they were married for over 45 years before she passed in 2000. Dick loved to camp and be outdoors, had a great knowledge of cars, and loved his family. He was a loving father and grandfather.

Livonia: David passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on February 2, 2018 at age 69. Predeceased by his parents William and Katherine (Bailey) McDonald and his mother-in-law Aida Lippa. Survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Andrea (Lippa) McDonald and children; Sean McDonald (Carla Muranyi) of Geneseo and Jesica (Fr. Michael) Ellis of OH; grandchildren, Alex and Sophia Ellis; siblings, Jeanette (David) Dill, Raymond McDonald, and Judy (Ernie) Capone. Also survived by his father-in-law Edward Lippa, several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his best four legged friend, his dog Rocky.

David was born on February 27, 1948 in Rochester, NY to parents William and Katherine McDonald. He graduated from Gates-Chili High School in 1967 and later attended the Rochester Institute of Technology. Dave served his country in the Army National Guard. He married Andrea on September 27, 1969 and they were married for 48 blessed years. Dave started DSA Precision Machining after working at Jasco Tools as a machinist and manufacturing engineer until his retirement.

Honeoye: Harold Aubrey Hayward, age 80, lovingly known as “Papa” or “Pappy”, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 31, with family members by his side.

He spent most of his life in the Honeoye Community and lived the last years of his life on Honeoye Lake with his beloved wife of 34 years, Patricia Stenner Hayward, who spent every day with him and cared for him dearly until he passed.

Harold is also survived by his first wife, dear friend, and “coach”, Margaret Green White, and his children: Janet Hayward, Gloria (William) Corrigan, Michael Hayward, Margot (Peter) Badger, Todd (Debi) Hayward, Tobi (Rik) Pfenninger, and Wendy Christ; grandchildren Gregory (Cydney), Kevin, Megan (Kelsey), Ethan, Matthew, Paige, Kaleb, and Lauren; and great-grandchildren Grayson and Morgan.

Harold was born on March 27, 1937 to Aubrey and Leta (Bentley) Hayward in Canandaigua, NY and was raised in Canadice, NY. He was a lifelong member of the Honeoye United Church of Christ and a 62-year member of the Richmond Fire Department. Harold was also a member of Masonic Lodge #619, Lakeville FD Exempts Club, Honeoye Fish & Game Club, and was past president of NCVFA.

Harold attended Honeoye Central School and served as Director of Transportation at Honeoye Schools for 34 years. He was the Ontario County Deputy Fire Coordinator for 25 years and was a lifelong farmer, working at many area farms including Old Fort Farm and Randi B. Farm.

Harold loved nothing more than spending time with his family, including all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was surrounded by many friends who he considered to be part of the family. In the summer he enjoyed taking his family and friends on regular boat rides on the lake.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Elm Manor Nursing Home who provided loving care for Harold in the final months of his life.

Harold’s funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 9 at 11 am at the Honeoye United Church of Christ, 8758 Main St., Rte. 20A, Honeoye. A private burial will be held at a later date.
