Garnet N. Rollo “Gar” – July 5, 2017

Honeoye: July 5, 2017 at age 62 years after battling a lengthy illness. Predeceased by his father Norman Rollo and his step son Joseph Zonneville. Survived by his wife of 25 years, Brenda Rollo (Zonneville) of Honeoye and his niece, that was like a daughter, Cheryl Zonneville. Also survived by his mother Dolores Rollo and siblings; Millie (Paul) Staley, Rick Rollo, Reggie (MaryJo) Rollo, Laurie Ann (Arnie) Shaffer, and Donald Rollo; many nieces & nephews, dear friends, and his puppy Katy Girl.

Garnet was born on February 13, 1955 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to parents Norman and Dolores Rollo. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1972-77, was a member of the Honeoye-Hemlock American Legion Post, and was a member of the Sheet Metal Union Local 46. Gar worked at RCM in Rochester and in Honeoye for many years. He loved playing horseshoes, golfing, NASCAR, and the Buffalo Bills.

Rosemary Fugle (Schmuck) – July 2, 2017

South Livonia: Peacefully, with family by her side at age 92 years. Predeceased by her loving husband of 73 years Francis (Red) Fugle, sons Steven and Ronald Fugle and son-in-law Harold Herring and grandchildren William Fugle Jr., Randolph Fugle, Johnathan Herring and Sara Yates. Born September 6, 1924 in Morris NY, she moved to Honeoye NY, met and married Francis Fugle and together raised 14 children. She was co-founder of Fugle’s Inc. and bookkeeper for over 50 years. She was the loving center of her family.

Edward P. Loux – June 27, 2017

Honeoye: Ed was born May 22, 1931 to Theodore & Anna Loux and died peacefully on June 27, 2017 at age 86 years. Predeceased by his sister Ellen Beatty. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita (Farron) Loux, his daughter Karen (Mark) Goddard and son John (Cathy) Loux; grandchildren, James and Michael Goddard, Jennifer Loux, and Ryan (Marty) Ringelberg; 2 great-granddaughters, Avery and Emilie. Also survived by sisters-in-law Jean D’Angelo and Lois Aquino, brother-in-law Joseph Farron, and many nieces & nephews. Ed was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean Conflict, was a retiree of Eastman Kodak, and was very active in the Honeoye Community including service in the Richmond Fire Department, the Honeoye-Hemlock American Legion, and was the Richmond Town Justice for over 40 years.

Ed moved to Honeoye in 1961. It was here that he and his wife, Rita, fixed up the old farmhouse on West Lake Road that he called “home” until his passing

Besides his service with the local fire department and ambulance squad, Ed worked for 4 years delivering “meals on wheels” to many local seniors. He was always willing to help out his community and is probably best known as “Judge Loux”. It was in this capacity that he was revered for his effort to treat each and every defendant fairly and respectfully.

In his spare time, Ed enjoyed woodworking. Some of his creations include the podium at St. Mary’s Church of which he was a member. The beautiful pieces of furniture that he made for his family will be forever treasured including the cradles that he made when his grandchildren were born.

Anne M. Connell (Wakefield) ~ June 27, 2017

Livonia: Peacefully on June 27, 2017 at age 83 years. Predeceased by her husband Jim Connell and her sister Mary Catherine Wakefield. Survived by her children; Jim, Kevin (Beth), Mary Kay & Daniel (Nydia). Grandchildren, Danny, Nick, Katelyn, Dallas & Tessa (Oren) Taylor. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

Anne was born in Medina, NY and was the eldest of eight children. She spent several years in Indiana before moving back to the Rochester area. She attended catholic school which instilled her forever faith in god. Anne and Jim married at Crescent Beach in October of 1957. They raised their four children in Livonia, NY. Anne loved her children and adored her grandchildren, and her dog(s). Anne retired as a receptionist, but above all was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and catering to her dog(s). Anne’s infectious laugh and love of life will carry on through the hearts and memories of all her loved ones.

Alice Marie Shumway (Wisse) – June 20, 2017

Honeoye: Born January 21, 1931 Marie dedicated her life to her family and her faith. She was a wonderful wife, mother, friend to many. Always thinking of others she was a talented artist and used her creative skills to sew hundreds of personal gifts for those close to her. She was a familiar face to many in Honeoye through her years of working at the US Post Office. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Leonard J. Shumway, whom she married in Honolulu, Hawaii on February 14th, 1951. Together they raised their five children Michael (Mary Ann), Spencer (Mechele), Bridget (David Seconi), Matthew (Nadine) and Careen. Marie came up with the idea of the annual “unbirthday party” as a way to bring all eleven of her precious grandchildren together at the same time. She will be greatly missed by Allison (Donnie Mueller) & Michael (Jenna Goldstein) Shumway, Justin (Sarah Coldwell), Matteo & David Spencer Seconi, Zachary, Linnea, Joshua & Samantha Shumway, and Rafael and Marie Barreto. Bringing additional joy to her life was great-grandaughter Hazel Anne Seconi. In addition to her immediate family she leaves a sister in law, Diana Beisheim and several nieces and nephews.

Honeoye,NY: April 10, 1940 – June 16, 2017. Born in Lubbock, TX., went home to Jesus after 77 years, surrounded by her family. Janet was married to her loving husband, Roger for 58 years and spent 30 years working as a bookkeeper for Carrier Air Conditioning as well as doing the books for her husbands business.

She is survived by her husband, Roger & and their 3 children: Brad (Karen Billing) Bennett of Honeoye Falls, Brenda (Paul) Heilman of Shortsville, & Dave (Karen) Bennett of Park City, KS. She also has a sister, Paula Johnson of Lubbock, TX. She was a loving and devoted meema to 7 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren.

Janet was a founding member of Faith Bible Church which started in her home on Briggs St. in the 1970’s. Robert William Freudigman – June 4, 2017

Conesus Lake: Robert William Freudigman, age 84, of Livonia, NY, took his final flight west in the arms of his family on June 4, 2017 after a sudden illness. He was the sweetheart and soulmate of Margaret (Rombaut) Freudigman for more than 61 years; dearly loved father to Jean Marie (Sidney) Geertz and Nancy Lyn (Marcus) Leinders; cherished Morfar to his many beloved grandchildren; and devoted brother to June (Bob) Bartels. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cynthia Ann, and his son, Steven Robert.

Bob was born on March 17, 1933 in Rochester, NY to parents William and Josephine Freudigman. At age fourteen, Bob became a lineboy for Page Airways where he learned to fly, earning himself the nickname “Hotdog.” After serving his country in the Korean War, he went on to fly for Mohawk Airlines, experiencing an illustrious commercial aviation career spanning 36 years during which time he became the 1963 recipient of the Daedalion Civilian Airmanship Award in recognition of his outstanding ability, bravery, and heroism. His passion for aviation inspired generations of his family members to take to the skies. He owned and operated Leroy Airport for years, eventually becoming co-owner of the small airfield in Lakeville where he loved spending time. He could often be spotted flying his Aeronca with Margaret in the “tumbling sun-split clouds” above Conesus Lake “wheeling, soaring, and swinging high in the sunlit silence.”

William E. Gannon “Bill” – May 25, 2017

Conesus: Peacefully, with family by his side, on May 25, 2017 at age 89 years. Predeceased by his parents William H. & Marie (Schmitt) Gannon and his son William F. (Kat) Gannon. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha (Lewis) Gannon and daughters; Mary (Vincent) McKeown, Jr. of Avon, Bridget Gannon of Conesus, and Maureen “Murphy” (John) Gilsenan of Poughkeepsie; grandchildren, Vincent (Shannan) McKeown, Amanda McKeown (Alexander Kunkel), Dylan Gilsenan, Shane Gilsenan; great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Kelly McKeown. Bill was born on August 14, 1927 in Rochester, NY to parents William Henry Gannon and Marie Gertrude (Schmitt) Gannon. He graduated from West High School in 1945 and then enlisted in the US Navy. The Navy sent Bill to Sampson Naval Base on Seneca Lake for training and later he served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. Bill married Martha Mills Lewis on September 27, 1958. While raising their family he worked for RG&E for 44 years, was very dedicated, and never missed a day of work. He loved gardening, wildlife, and many good times spent on Conesus Lake. There were many great memories spent with family including his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at the Lake. He was active in the community and was a Past Commander of the Conlon-Mulvaney American Legion Post 1779 and was also a member of the 40&8 Club. Bill loved sports and was an avid Buffalo Bills and Syracuse Orangeman fan. He also loved to watch college football and never missed the Army vs. Navy games.

Irene Obolensky Beggs ~ May 23, 2017

Livonia: Irene Obolensky Beggs, beloved mother of Alan and Alexandra, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of May 23, 2017 at the age of 86. Predeceased by her loving husband, Alan, and parents Paul Ivanovitch and Alexandra, she is survived by her grandchildren Stephen, Amanda, Grandbear and Willow, her brother George, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Irene was born June 24, 1930 in Paris, France, but grew up in Wiesbaden, Germany before emigrating to New York City in 1950. After receiving her undergraduate degree with the class of 1955 from the College of New Rochelle, and a master’s degree in social work from Fordham University, she worked with unwed mothers for the Bureau of Child Welfare of New York City until the birth of her children who she raised in Riverdale, NY.

Always an avid gardener, Irene was also active in many other areas: she sang soprano and helped lead several choral groups, became American president of the Japanese-American woman’s organization Nichibei Fujinkai, and took numerous music and art classes throughout her life. She was a lifelong learner, obtaining her driver’s license and a second bachelor’s degree in voice from the Mannes School of Music, and becoming an accomplished artist, all her 60’s. Her specialty was botanical illustration, which married her love of plants and art.

For the last ten years of her life, Irene lived in Livonia, NY where she became the loving center of her daughter’s family. In life Irene possessed a warm and generous spirit. She shared her love of music, art and nature with all, and valued her friends and family above all else. We will carry her with us in our hearts.

Dianne L. Whitacre (Bartholomew) – May 20, 2017

Geneseo/Livonia: Passed to be with her Lord on May 20, 2017 at age 76 years. Predeceased by her son David Hanna and her father Spencer Bartholomew. Survived by her husband of 47 years Steve Whitacre, her son Daniel Hanna, her mother Ruth Traynor, and her sister Donna (Alfred “Tim”) Cole Jr, several nieces & nephews including special nephew Jaimie (Audrey) Cole and niece Jennifer (Dan) Korpanty. Also survived by several cousins and many special friends.

Diane was born May 16, 1941 in Warsaw, NY. She attended high school in Livonia, NY and graduated with an Associates Degree from MCC. She was employed by Rochester Products/Delphi and retired in 2000 after 30 years. She established a successful Ebay business after retirement. Dianne was a devoted mother to both sons, but was known as an especially devoted mother/caretaker to her special needs son, David, who pre-deceased her in 2015. Dianne enjoyed antiquing, antique button collecting, knitting, playing bridge, and adored the many pets she cared for throughout her life. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed watching all sports. Her most favorite times were spent with her loving husband of 47 years, her son Dan, and her loving family and friends.

Stephen Bradley Moore – May 20, 2017

Greenwood/Hemlock: Peacefully on May 20, 2017 at age 63 years. Predeceased by his parents William & Etta (Hendrickson) Moore and his stepfather Ronald Hurd Sr. Survived by his brothers, Ronald (Tammy) Hurd Jr., Robert Hurd, and James Hurd all of Greenwood, his niece Haleigh Jane Hurd of Greenwood, and his daughter, Randi (Patrick) Smalley of Hemlock. Stephen was born on May 6, 1954 in Hornell, NY to parents William and Etta (Hendrickson) Moore. He attended and graduated from Greenwood Central School and was an accomplished athlete. He served his country in the United States Air Force and later was employed at Ingersoll Rand and also the Veterans Administration Facility in Bath. He was a member of the Greenwood American Legion where he made many friends that he considered family. There he was a bartender and cleaner and always was keeping things polished and organized. He enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed many walks on the family farm. Steve’s pride and joy were his grandchildren.

Karyn L. Schapp ~ May 18, 2017

Geneseo: Peacefully at the Teresa House on May 18, 2017 Karyn entered into glory at age 62 with her sister by her side. Predeceased by her parents James and Lorraine (Dube) Stewart and her nephew Benjamin Waterman. Survived by her children Shayna Schapp (Jonah Lamers) of the Netherlands, Nathan Schapp (Caitlin Moseley) of Canandaigua, Evan (Jasmine) Schapp of Naples; grandchildren Edi and Carter Schapp; siblings Glenn (Lisa) Stewart of Mendon, Pamela (Dan) Waterman of Livonia, Laurie Stewart of Penfield and Jon (Stephanie) Stewart of Penfield. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, two great-nieces and a great-nephew.

Karyn was born on February 7, 1955 in Cheyenne, Wyoming where her father was stationed in the Air Force. Her family moved to Rochester, New York when her father was hired by Eastman Kodak Company. Karyn helped raise her four brothers and sisters and loved working with children so much she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education. She was a counselor at two Christian camps for children and worked in several day care centers.

Karyn was a strong woman of faith, she loved Jesus and gained strength every day by reading her bible. She often showed acts of kindness to strangers in grocery stores, restaurants and anywhere else she met people. She wrote notes of encouragement and kindness to family, friends and people she barely knew and decorated them with stickers. She loved dancing and would often dance to loud music in her apartment. Karyn spent many of her waking hours praying for others and gave to many charitable organizations who provide for children living in third world countries. Although she had many struggles throughout the years, she always remained strong in her faith and looked forward to the day she would meet Jesus, the source of her strength. We rejoice that she has been made whole and will live eternally in Heaven.

Karin (Petersen) Holmes ~ March 26, 2017

Karin (Peterson) Holmes passed away at home in Canadice March 26, 2017, after a long illness. She is survived by her son Kurt Holmes of Conesus, daughter Diane Holmes, grandson Jesse Freund both of Canadice. Brother Kurt Petersen, sister-in-law, Vera Petersen both of Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Niece, Linda Petersen. Nephews, Paul Petersen, Glenn Petersen, Steven Petersen. Great nieces, Brit, Sydney, and Carmen. Great nephews, Bryce, Alex, Brayden, Erik, and Shan all of Ontario and British Columbia Canada as well as extended family and friends.

“Big things come in small packages”Karin was the epitome of that saying. She was born in Kollund, Denmark. From generations of farmers and having both grandfathers known horse breeders it was her passion to follow in their legacy. Her grandfather Edlif Petersen was known throughout Europe for his majestic Belgian Stallions.

After weathering WWII, she met her husband, an American soldier and immigrated to the United States and had a family. Eventually settling in New York where she started her own business of running a horse farm.

Karin became a successful and accomplished equestrian, trainer, teacher and breeder. She had a keen eye for a good horse and a knack for training those that were difficult, like her beloved “Luke” whom she broke, trained and showed at a competitive level. As a breeder, Karin was sought out for her lovely, talented offspring, most she broke and trained herself. Many became champions. At 80 she was able to show and win with her final baby two-time Grand Champion Bentley.

She was fearless and tireless as a competitor – Steeple Chases (winning) eventing, and Dressage before it was taken seriously by her peers.

She studied and trained with the best, George Morris, and Capt. Nadsy.

Her time was devoted to Pony Club, was a member of the Genesee Valley Breeders, Dressage Association, Genesee Valley Fox Hunt Club, and an innovator of many projects.

Karin will be greatly and deeply missed but leaves an immensely rich legacy to so many.

Ella Mae Yatteau “Ellie” (Lauffer) – May 11, 2017

Hemlock/Corning: Peacefully on May 11, 2017, at age 80 years, with family by her side. Predeceased by her parents Herbert & Dorothy Oliver, her husband Robert T. Yatteau, her siblings; Marleah Butler, Carl Oliver, Betty Johnson, and Dorothy Hall. Survived by her son Daniel (Donna) Lauffer of Bath; grandchildren; Danielle (Brandon) Zettl, Jason King, Adam (Melissa) King, Chelsea (Nick) Xidis, and Nikki (Justin) Casagrande; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Eva, Sarah, Darbi, and Maryn; siblings, Kenneth (Joyce) Oliver and Marion Smoot. Also survived by many nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, and many friends including her dear friend Melissa Carey.

Ella Mae “Ellie” was born on January 1, 1937 in Watkins Glen, NY to parents Herbert & Dorothy Oliver, the youngest of 7 children. Ellie was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved animals especially her horses and she was still riding into her 70’s. Ellie loved music and enjoyed playing keyboard, piano, organ, and accordion. She was a talented musician and was self taught. Ellie was dedicated to her husband Bob throughout their marriage.

Eleanor L. Morris (Madigan) – May 9, 2017

Livonia: May 9, 2017 at age 88 years. Eleanor peacefully slipped the bond her body had become on a peaceful spring afternoon surrounded by her loving family. Eleanor is predeceased by her husband Joseph R. Morris Sr., her parents Gerald & Margaret Madigan, her grandson Christopher Copeland, daughter-in-law Ellen Calhoun-Morris, brothers; Tom, Richard, and Jerry Madigan. She is survived by her 7 children, Joseph, Michael, Patricia (Randy Remming), Kathy (John Blanchard), Sheila (Paul Bedard), Maureen (Ken Smith), Eileen (Jeff Fugle), special friends Amir & Katie Aghaghari; grandchildren, Stephen Morris, Heather Morris, Cameron Copeland (Tina), Joseph Costanza, James Herrmann, Mark (Astrid), Aaron, Ian, Rachel, Ruth, and Gabe Herrmann, Rachel (Ashley Oelschlaeger), Annalee (Brandon Weiss) and Victoria Coon (Lance Shreeve), Patricia (Dustie Gaskins), and Leanne Smith, Alison and Elean Fugle (Andrew Gimlich), Jenny (Eric Reinhart); great-grandchildren, Natalie Tschiderer, Layla Morris, Madison Copeland, Arianna Copeland, Hunter & Alexandra Weiss, Avery & Elijah Gimlich, Cadence, Jonathon and Elyza Reinhart, Joshua Oelschlaeger, and Harmony Monachino; Siblings, Bob (Joan) Madigan, Terri Harrington, Ginny (Larry) Lejuett, Kathy Madigan (Julie), and Madelyn Dir. Also remembered are many nieces & nephews, children that adopted her, and her many other friends and relatives.

Eleanor Madigan Morris was born in Rochester, NY on October 23, 1928. She spent her childhood years in Lima, NY in a large and loving family. She was educated at Geneseo State College and received her Teaching Degree, taught 6th grade English in Livonia and was active in Special Education.

She married Joseph Morris on July 19, 1952 and they had 7 beautiful children together. Joe’s job took them from Rochester, NY to Massachusetts and Maryland, returning to Livonia, NY in 1972. They spent the remainder of their years as proud residents of Livonia.

Eleanor was a compassionate, kind advocate of all things great and small. She became a foster parent because her heart saw the need for a loving home for all children. She became Mom to over 150 kids. She opened her heart and home to all, making sure there was a meal and a place for anyone in need to lay their head. She became a Social Worker while still maintaining an open door. She was an active community member who loved to participate in school plays, making many costumes, and doing makeup. She was a member of the Historical Society and had a wonderful flair for editing books and perfect grammar. She had a passion for all kinds of music in her children and her grandchildren. Eleanor loved her family to infinity. Eleanor called the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation home for many years and made the most of her time spent there. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at the CNR for all they did for Eleanor over the years.
