NAPLES: Flora M. Fisher, age 94, passed away peacefully at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua on Thursday, April 5, 2012, with her family, loving nurses and aides at her side. Flora was born on February 10, 1918, and was the daughter of Harry and Sylvia Ball. Flora was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Frederick Fisher; eight sisters and three brothers. Flora is survived by her daughters Jean F. Seager of Fairport and Lu Stevens of Lund, B.C.; two grandsons, Paul (Katy) Schwingle of Naples and Andrew (Linda) Stevens of Victoria, B.C. She is also survived by two sisters; Anna Marie (Art) Fisher, Mabel Payne, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Flora loved being outside. She treasured the time with her grandsons and when they were young explored with them the wonders of the great outdoors. Flora especially liked walking in the woods looking for wild flowers and animals of any kind. Flora’s other hobbies included refinishing furniture, chair caning, painting on antique trays, ceramics, and knitting.
Flora was the ultimate caregiver – listening, advising and comforting anyone in need. Flora took great joy in being a positive light for others. Flora will be remembered by many as an avid cook whether it was pies, breads, canned goods or delicious meals for anyone who showed up.
A memorial service for Flora will be held on April 28, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Lucey-VanVoorhis Funeral Home, Inc., 301 West Main Street Victor, New York 14564.
