Michael “Mike” Gerard Morris ~ July 1, 2024

Mt. Morris/Livonia: At age 69, Mike passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, in Rochester NY. He was born in Rochester on August 26, 1954. He was the second child to the late Eleanor L. and Joseph R. Morris Sr. Mike is also predeceased by his beloved wife, Debbie Morris, his sister-in-law, Ellen Calhoun, and nephews, Christopher Copeland and Stephen Morris. Survived by his daughter, Heather Morris (Ryan Huntington), his siblings, Joseph Morris Jr., Patricia (Randy Remming) Copeland, Kathy (John) Blanchard, Sheila (Paul) Bedard, Maureen (Ken) Smith, and Eileen (Jeff) Fugle, his grandchildren, Natalie Tschiderer, Nolan Huntington, and Layla Morris, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mike was always willing to help people, and he was a very compassionate guy. He loved to goof around, as all of his nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and grand-nieces and nephews will tell you. He made friends easily and stood by his friends in good times and bad. If he was able to do something for you there was never any expectation of something in return.

Mike was a proud Union Member and drove in the family Turbo Taxi business for years. He also worked for John Bartz building homes.

His sense of humor kept him amused, sometimes to the chagrin of his siblings. He threatened to run for sheriff, which we were never sure if he would actually try. We’re going to miss you, Mike.

Friends and family are invited to call from 10 AM – 1 PM on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, 21 Big Tree Street in Livonia, where Michael’s Memorial Service will directly follow at 1 PM. In honor of Michael, please wear your favorite Tie-Dye. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable contribution in Mike’s memory to a charity of your choice. To share a memory or a condolence, please visit: www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

  2. I just received word that Mike passed. What a shocker. He and I shared phone calls over the years robbing the other whose football team would win this week or next. We would exchange stories of growing up, school, our favorite nun, and most anything would make us laugh. I will miss you so much Mike. What a true friend you’ve been over the years. Love you buddy!

  3. Mike was a great guy that had the honor of being the first one on the Lantern Lounge “Shutoff List” No fault of his own….. I was a co owner of the tavern then . The place was brand new and somehow Mikes car hit the building and tore the corner post off and messed up some of the siding . ……. I plus the entire crowd ran outside and nobody was in the car. Mike stepped forward and said he did it .
After being on the LIST for years , one of his sisters (who wasnt of age to drink) told me that SHE was the driver , and Mike took the heat. I apologized to Mike and his comment was “He didnt care, he never really liked the place…
He was a great guy who came from a great family. He will be missed … He is home with mom and dad AKA Dudley now.
