Donald R. Moore ~ October 26, 2022

Bloomfield:  Donald “Don” Ray Moore passed away at the age of 82 on Wednesday, October 26th, 2022, at FF Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY.  Born in Martin, Kentucky, he was the oldest of 6 children to his late parents Russell and Golda Moore. Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Joyce Marie (Clark) Moore; his daughters, Monica J. (Andrew) Bell and Kimberly A. (Scott) Gibson, his grandchildren, Garrett Gibson, Glen Gibson, Gavin Gibson, Julia Gibson, Jessica Gibson, and Grant Gibson, his siblings, Tilden “Ray” Moore, Grace Ramsden, Sharon “Sue” (Wayne) Gilbert, Flossie (William “Sandy”) McPherson, and Villa Mae “Lou” Jamieson, brother-in-law, Fred (Eileen) Clark, sister-in-law, Jayne (George) Heuring, and several nieces and nephews.

Don proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1965. His tours of duty included Korea and Germany. He was employed for 24 years at General (Railway) Signal Company in Rochester, NY, and retired as Shipping and Receiving Manager. He retired for a second time, from a part-time position of 14 years as an Associate in the Hardware Department at Walmart Supercenter in Canandaigua, NY. Don was a long-time member of The American Legion, Honeoye-Hemlock Post 1278 and enjoyed spending time with military buddies during meetings, dinners, town parades, and other gatherings. In 2019, he was chosen to go on the Honor Flight Rochester – Mission 69, a meaningful experience to him. Don held the position of Ordained Deacon for the New Hope Fellowship Fundamentalist Church in Honeoye/Hemlock, NY for many years. Shortly before his Saviour called him home, Don shared with others that he was ready to go. He delighted in vacationing with his family throughout several U.S. states and Canada. His favorite music was bluegrass and old-time gospel. After full retirement, he shared many fun-loving times with his caring wife, including local senior events and various excursions by tour bus. Don loved his family and his many, many friends. They loved him and he will be greatly missed.

In keeping with Don’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.  A celebration of life gathering may be announced at a future date. To share a memory or a condolence, please visit: www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com
