Bloomfield: At age 89, Bob passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Demay Living Center in Newark, NY. He was born in Geneva, NY. Bob graduated from Bloomfield High School and went on to enlist in the Army and was a member of the 101 st Airborne during the Korean War.
Bob is predeceased by his parents Fenner and Doty Breckenridge, his son; James Spike, his brother; Charles Spike and his granddaughter; Hannah Russell. Survived by his beloved wife of 33 years; Wilma Spike, his children; David (Arlene) Spike, Raymond (Pam) Myers, David (Lori) Myers, Cindy (David) Russell, Julie (Randy) Kelley, his sister; Edith Ganz (Jerry Zimmerman), his sister-in-law; Marilyn Schall, his grandchildren; Melissa (Kris), Travis (Vicki), Jimmy, Paul, Jennifer, Brian, Abby (Chance), Phillip, Tracy, Samantha, Patrick and Carrie, and his great grandchildren; Aiden and Avery, along with several nieces, nephews, friends.
A memorial service will take place at 2PM on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at East Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 2 Park Pl in Bloomfield, NY. Dear Wilma & Family – my prayers go out to you for God’s comfort at this time. I just heard of Bob’s passing and so I stepped back in time to remember all the help he gave me as County Commander. I remember living across the street from Bob and Wilma . I never really knew the man until then. I learned much about mechanics and many of life’s lessons from him. He always helped around the neighborhood and taught me the same ways. He will be missed in my heart but I know he is in better place due to in recent years him being sick. I will remember every memory I shared with him. Rest In Peace my wonderful friend.
Knowing Bob for the past thirty years or so was an honor. I enjoyed his sense of humor, learning about and from his experiences, and admired his unfailing patriotism. We discussed many serious matters but enjoyed lots of laughter, too. Bob cared about his friends and community – especially the military veterans community. Those of us fortunate enough to have known him will always remember him for the great American he was. God bless you, Bob!
