1. Al though I didn’t know you personally, I did have the opportunity to learn a lot about you just in reading many of the comments right here on this page. I spoke or messaged back and forth with your wife and others as we were working overtime to get you some medications that for some bureaucratic insane reason, we were unable to at least try and have work for you, and despite various outside forces making it difficult, by the time we were finally able to make it happen, too much time had passed. All I can say is that your wife Cindy worked non stop, day & night as not only your advocate but the biggest advocate that I’ve ever witnessed when it came to someone’s health! So Cindy, if you do happen to read this message, I just want you to know that you’re an amazing human being and if I ever need someone to advocate for me, I’d chose you every single time.

   May Vinnie Rest In Peace, and I sincerely hope that you are finally taking better care of yourself and sleeping more than an hour or two a night, knowing that you did EVERYTHING and MORE you could do for your husband.

4. Vinnie was larger than life as his wife Cindy. Mark and I were so lucky to have been introduced to Vin and Cin 11 years ago when we had just moved to the Finger Lakes at Todd and Becci’s 4th of July Party. Vinnie was the Fourth July! So Vin….I will miss our political talks, I will miss your honesty about life, and of course I will miss you most of all. Vin, the next Fourth of July I will have a Captain Morgan’s for you.

7. Everybody has a story about Vinnie. Our story begins about 11 years ago when Susan and I were invited to the Whitford palace for a July 4th party. We were fortunate to be introduced to Cindy and Vinnie amongst several others who have become lifelong friends. When we first met Vinnie, you instantly knew he stood out from the crowd, was larger than life and he was the type of person who endeared himself to you in a multitude of different ways. Here are a few stories of those ways….

   Some of us were fortunate enough to see the empathetic side of him. Vinnie was someone who would lend you a shoulder so you could cry your heart out while never judging your intentions. Usually these “therapeutic” sessions were precipitated by several Captain Morgan Spiced Rum cocktails followed by him busting your ass for talking like a girl. Speaking of busting your ass, how many of you have ever had Vinnie grab your ass (show of hands please)? Male or female, it didn’t matter to Vinnie. It was not uncommon for him to kiss your cheek, grab your butt and tell you that he loved you, all while making you feel that you mattered to him. He was truly a person who conveyed love.

   Some of us were fortunate enough to see the technical side of Vinnie. There wasn’t a question you could ask Vinnie that he wouldn’t have an answer for and he was always able to give you options. Of all the construction people I’ve known, Vinnie was one of the few who had the natural gift to be able to look at a construction site and know exactly what was right or wrong. On one such occasion he accompanied me to the Turks & Caicos to install a tile floor. Vinnie worked like a dog for the better part of a week and all he had to show for it was a few new blisters, a few good meals and a few good nights at a gay bar with me! Despite that, as you might expect, the floor looked amazing. He was truly a person who knew his craft.

   Some of us were fortunate enough to see the humorous side of Vinnie. A group of us were doing a brewery tour around the Finger Lakes and decided to stop at Starkey’s Lookout. For those of you who don’t know the layout of Starkey’s it’s a rather large, open room usually full of patrons willing to have more than their share of beer and we were no different. On this momentous occasion someone (i.e. Vinnie) anonymously dropped a methane bomb causing most of the attendees in the room to gag and run for the exit. Of course, Vinnie took great joy blaming one of our cohorts, but it soon became apparent who the real culprit was when he repeated the blessed event but this time inside of Dick Murphy’s truck! Needless to say, everyone bailed out and cursed him for his uncanny skills. He was truly a person who could make you laugh.

   Some of us were fortunate enough to see the generous side of Vinnie. While attending Todd and Becci’s wedding in Puerto Rico, which by the way has done irreparable damage to my liver, Vinnie and Mike Morehouse decided to give the Fitness Instructor a break from her arduous duties and took over the responsibility of leading approximately 50 attendees in their daily poolside aerobics. Needless to say, Vinnie’s generosity only extended to the point where he needed another drink and almost fell off the stage, but his fitness moves were legendary! On a serious note, Vinnie and Todd’s pyromaniac extravaganza otherwise known as the 4th of July party is still envied today. Vinnie took great pride in going down to Pennsylvania with Todd, purchasing an abnormal quantity of fireworks and having the entire Bluff population try to compete with his display. No one could come close. He was truly a person who would give you the shirt off his back just to see the joy in your face.

   Life is a series of pictures or memories, and my life will forever be enriched by having the honor of calling Vinnie my friend. He was truly loved and loved all of us with an open heart. What a gift!

14. Vinnie will be greatly missed. Every single time I saw him was a good time. He always shook my hand hard and gave me a bear hug! He was an amazing Father, Husband, Son, Brother, Uncle, and friend. He’s achieved so much in very little time he was on Earth. He was a great listener! The life of the party.
