Betty W. Greene (White) – September 27, 2021

Conesus:  At age 97, Betty passed peacefully at her home on September 27, 2021.  She was born on May 14, 1924 in Conesus, NY to the late Walter and Lillian (Holmes) White.  In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her beloved son Ricky Greene, her sister Joyce Carpenter, and brothers, William, Paul, and Jay White.  Survived by her loving husband of 71 years, William W. Greene; daughter-in-law Linda (Bill) Price of Rush; many loving nieces, nephews, neighbors, and community friends.

Betty lived her entire life in Conesus, NY where she was involved in many community organizations.  She was always willing to help others and to be a good neighbor and friend.  Betty married Bill on October 15, 1949 and they were married for almost 72 years.

Family and friends may call on Friday, October 1 st , from 4:30pm-7pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 15 & 20A, Livonia, NY where Betty’s Funeral Service will be held at 7pm, immediately following calling hours.  Her graveside service and burial will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 2 nd , at Arnold Cemetery, Elm Street, Conesus, NY.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ricky Greene Park (for playground equipment), C/O Conesus Town Supervisor, Po Box 188, Conesus, NY 14435, the Conesus Fire Department, 6073 S.   2. A role model of dedication to her country. She was a great leader with a smile on her face. She gave of her time and dedication to the American Legion Post 1779. We will miss her.Catherine Streb.

  3. I lived in Conesus from 1943 to 1958 and knew the Greene and White families very well. Lots of fond memories of both families during that time. Betty will be watching over Conesus and her families from Heaven

  4. I was so sorry to hear this news – I have had meny conversations with Betty over the years and I just loved her. She will be missed by many in our area. I will keep Bill in my prayers and again I am so sorry for your loss.

  5. To Bill, Linda and all her many neices and nephews, I am so sorry for your loss,. Betty was a wonderful kind friend and neighbor all my life (and later a relative through marriage). She was and always will be along with Bill a pillar of Conesus. I will truly miss her as will so many. Fly high with the angels and God speed, my friend.

Aunt Betty was a special lady, I had not seen her and uncle Bill in over 50 years and yet it was like a day had never been lost when we saw each other again. Over the years of many phone calls of great conversations, she gave me insight on our family history, how Thankful I am to have had that time with her. She will be greatly missed

  9. So sad to learn of Betty’s passing and I’m sending love to Bill and the family. We exchanged Christmas cards for almost 40 years and I’ll miss that. My husband, Bill, spent time living with his Aunt Stella and Uncle Bill White and always spoke of how much he cared for Betty, Bill and Ricky. So many fond memories to cherish. Rest in peace, Betty …..we will miss you!

  10. I remember Betty as a very nice lady who was always involved in whatever was going on in the town of Conesus and surrounding area!!! She always had a sweet smile on her face and a kind word on her lips!!! She will be missed by the many people who knew her well!!! She is now in the arms of Our Precious Lord and Savior!!!

  14. Betty will be remembered always for her keen love of history especially of the early history of Conesus, Webster Crossing, Springwater and Hemlock. She was always willing to spend time discussing her memories of growing up in the area and the people who contributed to the rich history of the area.

    Bill, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I know the love you shared and the many memories you made together will replace the grieve you are currently experiencing. The community was your extended family and the lives Betty touched will never forget her warmth and willingness to share.
