Wilbur M. Wood “Woody” ~ June 3, 2020

Conesus:  Woody passed peacefully on June 3, 2020 at age 81.  He was born on September 26, 1938 in Rochester, NY to the late William and Mildred (Dunn) Wood.  Predeceased by his son Todd Wood; brothers, Jerry and Lenny; and sisters, Mildred, Doris, and June.  Survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlotte (Siverling) Wood and children; Michael (Cindy) Wood of Hemlock, Cheryl (Pete) Carpenter of Portageville, Scott (Denise) Wood of Conesus, and Dan (Daniela) Wood of Ft. Worth Texas; grandchildren; Mandi (Chris) Thompson, Jenny (Tim) Blood, Ashley (Adam) Baranes, Missy (Travis) Mau, Zachariah (Jessica) Wood, Emily Wood, Makenna (Jim) McKeown, Devaney Wood, Hunter Wood, Mateo Wood, Nico Wood, and Aryana Wood; great-grandchildren, Kori, Addison, Tessa, Alexis, and Tegan.  Also survived by his brothers Bill Wood and Wayne (Sharon) Wood; sisters, Meeta Martindale and Kathy Wood, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Woody graduated from Charlotte High School in 1957.  He joined the US Air Force in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963.  During his service time he met his wife Charlotte (Siverling) Wood and they were married in 1962.  They celebrated over 57 years of marital bliss.  Woody was a Local 85 Union Carpenter for over 30 years.  He was an avid coin collector, visited many yard sales, and enjoyed playing cards.  He loved spending time with his family and teaching them new games and life lessons.

Funeral Services and burial at Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY will be held privately due to current restrictions.  Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Conlon Mulvaney American Legion Post 1779, 6317 Marshall Road, Conesus, NY 14435.  To send a condolence or share a memory please visit:  www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

  1. Aunt Charlotte, Mike, Cheryl, Dan and Scott and all of your children,
    Steve and I are very saddened to hear of Uncle Wilburs passing . We are glad to know he spent his final times surrounded by his family. He was a humble guy but when he spoke of all of you, he had a very proud smile on his face. His big heart and soft spoken voice will be missed at all of our Florida gatherings. Love to you all,

  7. Uncle Wilbur was a kind and loving person. I will always remember going to his wedding an learning how to do the polka. I spent many large, fun and memorable family gatherings a his home and in parks. May you rest in peace Uncle Woody. God Bless Vonnie

  8. Dear Charlotte and family – so sorry to hear about Woody – I did talk to him in February ( I think ) – I was going to come visit and he said you were in the hospital…. I hope you are doing well with your health – never did get to come visit later because of the corona virus – Woody was a great man – I enjoyed seeing you both at yard sales and playing euchre at the moose for so many years – he will he missed… you are all in our thoughts and prayers – love, Cassie and Ed

  15. He will missed. I remember when I first moved my camper to sun valley. Woody was the first one to come over and help . A very nice man. Always thinking of others first.
