Robert James Burdick Jr. “Bob” – August 16, 2024

Lakeville, NY:  At age 81, Bob passed peacefully at his home on August 16, 2024.  He was born on April 30, 1943 in Newport, Arkansas to the late Robert Sr. and Velma (Boyd) Burdick.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Francis Austin Burdick and sister Shirley (Daniel) Loop.  Survived by his wife of 57 years, Yoko Burdick, and children, Monica Burdick and David Burdick; sisters-in-law Toyoko Kanda and Kathy Butler; aunt Marian Cradduck; brother Jerry (Florefe) Burdick; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members both in the US and in Okinawa, Japan. 

Bob served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1963-1967.  During his service he was stationed in Vietnam and Okinawa, and it was in the latter that he met his beloved wife, Yoko.  Bob was a general contractor in the Livonia community and was involved in many local new construction and home remodeling projects.  He worked very hard but always put family first.  In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends.  Bob always made time for snacks and coffee, a trait he passed on to his cherished children.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, August 24 th , from 2-4pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 15 & 20A, Livonia, NY, where USMC Military Honors will be held at 4pm.  Burial will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston County Hospice, 2 Murray Hill Drive, Mt.   2. My condolence to you and the family.I known Bob about 50 years. We worked on some jobs together and see to meet from time to time.Like when he fell off the hay wagon and ended up in the emergency room, where l was with my daughter who just broke her ankle .The last time I saw Bob was at Tom Wahl’s .

    I never experienced a day without yours and Bob’s smiles, laughs, and kind words
    with your visits over the many years I worked at Wegman’s Geneseo, or wherever I’d see you together. May the Lord bring you strength and peace during this time.

  4. Dear Yoko,I am so sorry to hear about Bob’s death. I have many fond memories of you and Bob living across the street from my grandmother, Agnes Beach, sister’s Mary McClelland. You bought her house and turned it into apartments. I love your kids Monica and David. Yoko, you and I took a sewing class together. Bob was the mayor of Lakeville. We all loved his smile and friendship. He made us feel special. I will miss him. Stay strong and stay well.

  6. Yoko and family, so sorry about your loss! I remember Bob leaving by 4am to meet the guys at leasures for breakfast every day where your Bob would be! They always had fun together. He’ll be missed.

  7. My sincere condolences to the Burdick Family!Bob was a great neighbor and always nice to my Aunt Vivian (Schmidt), lived two houses from Bob, Yoko an the kids. God Bless You Bob !
