Constance “Connie” Iaia passed away peacefully in Palm Coast, Florida on April 13th, 2024, shortly after her 100th birthday. Born in Rochester New York on April 1, 1924, one of 7 children of Giovanna and Vincenzo Geraci, Connie attended Washington High School and Nazareth College. She was married for 57 years to Thomas “Tom” C. Iaia who passed away in 2005. Together, they raised four children: John, Mary Jane, Tom, and Paul. She is survived by all of her children, their spouses, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Connie was active in the League of Women Voters in Rochester and worked for Congresswoman Slaughter’s campaigns. After moving to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1983 she worked as the Assistant Director of Keiser College and was active as President of the American Business Women’s Association there.
Connie was a lifelong, devout Catholic. A voracious reader, she loved painting with her grandchildren, chuckling at the daily funnies, and solving NYT crossword puzzles. Connie was renowned for her cooking skills, especially her extraordinary pasta sauce and meatballs. The angels in heaven have welcomed a truly joyful, kind, and wonderful Mom, Nana and Great-grandmother.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:15 AM on May 31, 2024, at the Church of the Assumption, 20 East Avenue in Fairport, NY. Interment will take place privately at Union Cemetery on Big Tree Road in Livonia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: A Charity of your Choice.
