Ruth S. (Bown) Sachs -April 5, 2024

Livonia: Our mother passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 5, 2024 at the age of 103. She was born on January 27, 1921, in Egypt, NY to the late Bruner and Margaret (Case) Bown. Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold E. Sachs; siblings, George Bown, Margaret Pickering, Jean Webb, and daughter-in-law Katha Schmidt Sachs. Survived by her Sons, Paul (Dana) Sachs of Corinth, Texas. Lee (Penny) Sachs of Thousand Oaks, CA. James (Susan) Sachs of Chili, NY. Along with her, 8 Grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

After graduating from RIT, our mother worked in food service. She retired from Gates Chili Central School in the early 80’s. She started in the bake shop, became a manager of a school cafeteria, and eventually managed the school lunch program for the district. After retiring, she volunteered at Strong Memorial Hospital for many years holding and rocking sick babies which she loved doing. She was also a very active member of her church and Eastern Star for many years.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4-7 PM on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, 21 Big Tree Street in Livonia. A Memorial Service will take place at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the Lakeville United Church of Christ followed by a luncheon. The Interment will take place privately at South Perinton Cemetery on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Golisano Children’s Hospital, 300 East River Road, P.O.   1. Paul, Lee, and Jim, To you, and all the rest of our family, I send my condolences for the passing of your beloved Mom. She was a beautiful person, and a huge influence on my life, and that of so many others.
    Auntie Ruth, I will always love you, and miss you. Thank you for being the sweet, lovely Aunt to me that you were. I will always be grateful for that.
