Chili/Geneseo: At age 62, Dan passed on September 14, 2023 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was born on December 17, 1960 in Rochester, NY to the late Clair and Nancy (Long) Ryan. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his brother Patrick Ryan. Survived by his wife of 38 years Kathleen (MacGregor) Ryan of Chili; children, Jen Ryan (Chris Loce) of Gates and Joe Ryan (Dymond Cherry) of Ogden; 2 beloved grandchildren; siblings; Thomas (Sharon) Ryan of Deerfield, Illinois, Kenneth (Christine) Ryan of Manchester, NH, David (Nannette) Ryan of Brockport, Rebecca (Brian) Lawrence of Geneseo, and Theodore (Michelle) Ryan of Piffard. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Daniel was a member of the Geneseo Fire Department before moving to Chili, NY where he became a member of the Chili Fire Department Company #3. When he was not riding fire Trucks and ambulances he worked at the ARC of Monroe and Lifespan with developmentally disabled people. He loved hunting, camping and flying RC controlled airplanes.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, September 30th , from 3-5pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 15 & 20A, Livonia, NY where Dan’s Memorial Service will be held at 5pm, following calling hours. Burial will be held privately at Temple Hill Cemetery, Geneseo, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Chili Fire Department Co. # 3, 2856 Chili Avenue, Rochester, NY 14624 or the Wilmot Cancer Institute, PO Box 278996, Rochester, NY 14627.   2. To Dan’s family I wanted to share my deepest sympathies for the loss of such a special man. I worked with Dan for 15 years, first in the day program and then as a co-worker of Lifespan. I was always impressed by what a wonderful human being he was; there was nothing false about Dan. He had a great sense of humor, a big heart that he extended to the clients he served, and he walked in integrity in all that he took on. It was an honor to work in the same agency with such a kind and caring person. The world has lost one of the good ones.Deb Frink

Prayers for the family and all that have been touched by the life of Daniel.Dan, a special Thanks for taking care of our “amazing people ” working with the people with disabilities is rewarding.   4. I didn’t know Dan but just by reading his obituary, the world has lost a really good man who gave much to his community.

  5. I will not be able to attend the funeral.My prayers are with Dan’s family. He was a good man. He always made laugh. He will be truly missed.

  6. A wonderful husband, brother, uncle and grandfather. Dan had many accomplishments and a loving and caring friend. I have many fond memories in the past years with him and his brother Pat. Dan, always had a smile and a warm hello. He will be missed by many ? Heaven has gained another Angel and may he be in heaven hugging Pat and his Parents.

  7. Sorry we won’t be able to come to the funeral home. We’re hosting Thanksgiving at our house for the gypsies . You will all be missed and we’ll be thinking of your family . Dan and Barb
