Honeoye, NY: At age 85, Mary passed peacefully on July 29, 2021 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia, NY. She was born on December 1, 1935 in Canandaigua, NY to the late Harry and Mary (Perryman) White. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Robert W. Gamrod; grandsons, James Shaw and David Hallett; and brothers, Ken and Fred White. Survived by daughters; Mary Ann (Gary) Shaw of Farmington, Carol (Gordon) Clark of Honeoye, and Trudy (Mark) Tones of Lima; grandchildren, Ben Shaw, Jenny Hallett, and Katie (Lance) Thigpen; great-grandchildren, Kirra, Bailee, Riley, Zach, Michaelah, Ghage, Devon, Wyatt, and Bryce; and sister Joyce (Ray) McMahon. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mary was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known for her blankets and quilt making. Mary could always be depended on to lend a helping hand whether it be taking a friend to the doctor’s or making her famous potato salad for a gathering. On Saturdays she could be found searching the local garage sales for treasures and checking out local eateries for lunch. She had a sweet tooth and loved baking large batches of goodies to share. Her loving , generous and feisty spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 3 rd , from 12noon-2pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 8624 Main Street, Rte 20A, Honeoye, NY where Mary’s Funeral Service will be held at 2pm, following calling hours. Burial to follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Honeoye, NY. Mary Sylvia was such a wonderful special person. She had made me a beautiful quilt for my wedding gift, I cherish. Also knowing how much I love wolfs, she made me pillows, and a throw quilt, along with a table runner. I always had a lot of fun seeing her, when she met our family for lunch. Mary Sylvia, will always be that one part of my Gramma Perryman’s family, I will always remember with a special love.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to MaryAnn, Carol, Trudy and families . Mary was my 2nd cousin and we grew up together on the family farm. We kept in touch throughout the years. We worked together at Laminex and in our later years kept in touch by phone. She will be greatly missed. I had hoped to make it to the services but got mixed up on the date…..believing it was on Wednesday . August 4th. Agaim my Love and Prayers go out to all of you.
As cousins, Mary and I spent a great deal of time together at my grandparent’s home. We, along with other cousins, spent hours berry picking, ice cream making, sledding and all other fun that growing up in a farm family provides. Later in life, we reconnected with breakfasts, lunches and long phone chats. Mary was a strong person who worked hard to remain independent in all aspects of life. She dearly loved her family and took great pride in their accomplishments. She was a great friend and helper to my Mom in her older years, always willing to lend a helping hand. She will be dearly missed.
I want to apologize for an oversight as far as Mom’s great grandchildren we left out David’s 3 sons Devon, Wyatt and Bryce Hallett. Mom loved them very much even though she hasn’t seen them in quite some time..
