Robert G. Rhodes “Bob” ~ August 23, 2020

Conesus Lake:  Robert G. Rhodes, age 91 of Conesus, NY, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2020 at his daughter’s residence in rural Aviston, IL.

He was born March 9, 1929 in Rochester, NY, the son of the late George Cecil and Anne Rhodes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Rhodes, whom he married September 30, 1967 in Lakeville, NY and who died September 12, 2019; brothers, John Rhodes and Roger Rhodes; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Otto “Jake” and Helen Schlegel.

Surviving are his children, Patricia (Everett) Medlin of Aviston, IL and Scott Rhodes (Katie Carbone) of Conesus, NY; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Kevin Medlin, and Courtney Rhodes; sister, Ruth (Dave) Anderson of Rochester, NY; and sisters-in-law, Betty Rhodes of Avon, NY, Rene Rhodes of Oak Harbor, OH, and Suzanne Bennett of Lakeville, NY.

Robert was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Rochester Telephone Corporation and later from the Livingston Area Transportation Service. He was a member of the Conesus United Church, Dansville NY Moose Lodge 1130, and was Lifetime member of the Conesus, NY American Legion Post 1779. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and most of all spending time with his family.

Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 10AM-1PM at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, 21 Big Tree Street in Livonia, NY, where his service will be held following calling hours.  Interment will take place immediately following Robert’s Funeral Service at St. Michael’s Cemetery on Shelly Road in Livonia

  1. To Patty and Scottie.My sincerest condolences to each of you! I want you to know that your Dad was one great guy! I worked with him for many years at the phone company. He was a dedicated hard worker but most of all he was honest, sincere, humble and fun! He is in heaven now with your Mother. A much better place!

  3. My prayers are with you all at this difficult time. I remember Bob fondly as he was my Sunday School teacher at the Lakeville United Church many years ago. His dedication left an impression on my life that has lasted forever.God Bless You.

  5. I want to send my deepest sympathies to family/friends. My daughter and I. She is now 18 use to go to Conesus Church with both Bob and Betty. Then I would see them at spaghetti dinner at United Methodist Church of Livonia. My daughter sat with them on Sunday mornings. She would tend to find families that had candy or snack. Bob would give her money and Betty would also. Thanks to them for making my child feel so special. Hope it was alright to share a story with you. They were amazing people to us. Sorry for your loss.   8. Bob always had a smile and loved his family deeply. We were blessed to have him as a part of our extended family. Bob and Bettey were special friends to us. We loved them greatly.

  9. Pat, Everett and family, I am so sorry for your loss of dad and I know you will miss him greatly. I am praying the Holy Spirit will bring comfort to everyone.

    I did not know him long but I thoroughly enjoyed talking with him; he was such a pleasant, smiling gift, from God.

    As I always say there is one thing death cannot take from us and that is precious memories.
