Floyd W. Embling – October 18, 2019

Livonia/Geneseo:  October 18, 2019 at age 89.  Predeceased by his wife Beverly Ann Embling in 2014 and his sister Doris Bailor.  Survived by children; Diedre (Joe) Williams of Dansville, Finnis (Gary) Feldt of Henrietta, and Kimberly (Paul) Miller of Honeoye; grandchildren, Christopher Proctor, Michelle Proctor (Joel Pitts), Jacquelyn Martz, Anna Martz (Bob Mastowski); great-grandchildren, Logan and Ryker Mastowski; brother Kenneth (Norma) Embling and many other loving family and friends, including nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Floyd was born in Rochester, NY on February 26, 1930 to parents Ward & Hazel (Murney) Embling.  He graduated from Avon Central High School and later served our country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Guam.  After his military service he married Bev in 1954.  They celebrated a life-long marriage and he loved to tell the story of how he asked for her hand in marriage.  Floyd retired from SUNY Geneseo where he was a facilities supervisor on the campus.  After retirement he has a second career working at the Hillside Children’s Center on Monroe Avenue in Rochester, NY.  Floyd had a green thumb and loved to garden, enjoyed wood working, NASCAR, and watching baseball.  He liked to watch TV, disliked commercials, and used the mute button often!  Floyd was a quiet type of man and generally stayed to himself, but given the chance he could carry on a great conversation with the best of them.  He was a resident at Pinehurst Senior Living in Honeoye Falls, NY for the past several years.  He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, October 23rd, from 2-4pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 20A, Livonia, NY where Floyd’s Funeral Service will be held at 4pm, following calling hours.  Burial will be held at 10amon Thursday, October 24 th , at Bath National Cemetery with military honors.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hearthside Cats, PO Box 282, Geneseo, NY 14454.  To send a condolence or share a memory please visit:  www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

  1. I’m sorry for the loss of your father. I know how close you all were. I Believe Beverly was there to meet him. I truly do. It makes me smile. I hope you all can too. I wish you all peace. Hugs n love Donna.

  2. So sad for the loss of your father, my heart goes out to you all. He will be missed by me personally and the restaurant he helped keep alive all of these years begining back while Beverly was alive and continued there after with Kim and Paul whom now will keep her parents memory alive in our hearts and minds. Forever grateful I/we are to of had the pleasure of knowing such sweet people.
