Joan led an active life! She worked for Mobile Chemical then at the Pal-Mac School District. Was a member of the Macedon Town Library Board, a Trustee for the Farmington Cemetery Assoc., involved in many Cancer drives, Secretary Scheduler for The Colony Caregivers & an active member of Farmington Friends Church.

Geneseo: Nanette Maxwell died September 8, 2013 at age 77 after a long and valiant battle with ovarian cancer. Nanette was born in Glasgow Scotland in 1935. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is predeceased by her parents George & Eliza Hope, her brother George Hope, and grandson Elliot Maxwell. Jim was the youngest of 10 children, he loved his family and was very proud to be their brother. He worked as a mechanic after high school. He joined the Army and served during the Vietnam War, in the Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. He spent the majority of his career selling Kenworth trucks and managing a Kenworth dealership in Rochester, NY. He was an entrepreneur and owned a variety of businesses and real estate investments in the Rochester, NY and Ft. Lauderdale, FL areas. Jim was an avid pilot, loved to travel to see family and take vacations to the Florida Keys and “cool his jets” with friends and family by the water and in the sunshine. Jim also loved to dance and listen to blues music. His “girls” where the key to his heart and he thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with his family.

Jim was a kind, loving and generous man. He made everyone he met feel like they were unique and special in his life. He was loved by many and offered unmatched love and loyalty in return. He will be missed dearly by family and friends.

John Edward Rumfola, 83, born April 24, 1930, in Avon, NY, died Monday, August 26 at his residence in Wayland, NY.

Mr. Rumfola was preceded in death by his father, Ross Rumfola and his mother, Angeline (DeMarco) Rumfola; brothers, Joe, Anthony and Phillip Rumfola; and sisters, Frances Boor and Angeline Cook.

Arthur Ace Treble, formerly of Honeoye, age 84 years, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the “Life Care Center of Palm Bay”. He was born April 2, 1929 in Honeoye to Arthur E. and Mary E. Ace Treble, the fifth child and first boy of the couple.

He was predeceased by parents and sisters, Althea, Doris, Mary and Joyce. Arthur is survived by brother, Herbert ( Margaret) Treble, many nieces, nephews and cousins who all loved their “Uncle Art”.

One of four 1947 graduates of Honeoye High School, Art attended Bowling Green University in Ohio, receiving a degree in education in 1952. He was drafted that fall into the Army and sent to Korea where he became the recipient of several military medals.

After the war ended, Art taught at the American schools in Libya, Hawaii, England and the Dominican Republic. He returned to the States, settling in Colorado Springs, Colorado until retiring to Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Duane August Englert, age 73, a life-long resident of San Angelo, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2013, after a short-stay in Lima, NY.

He was born on October 1, 1939, in Van Court, Texas, to August and Lydia Bolf Englert. He graduated from Wall High School in Wall, TX, in 1956, then went on to work for K.C. Sales Propane Company for 34 years. He later worked at WalMart in the automotive department for 13 years before retiring at the end of 2011.

Duane was a man of great integrity. He believed in working hard and doing everything with excellence. He genuinely loved and cared for his family and friends. He was a loyal and faithful son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend.

Duane was predeceased by his parents, and he is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, JoAnn of Lima, NY; sons, Alan Englert, Nathan Dale Ferguson, and Mark Englert, all of San Angelo, TX; daughters, Tonja and husband John Maholick of Las Vegas, NV; Mary Lou and husband Jeremy Dosiek of Lima, NY; granddaughters, Haley Maholick, Connelly and Amaris Dosiek; sister, Arlene and husband Jerry Hoelscher of St. Lawrence, TX; brother, Harvey and wife Patty Englert of San Angelo, TX. He is also survived by two special nieces, Paula and husband Jerry Doyle of Round Rock, TX; Kimberly and husband Darren Jost of St. Lawrence, TX; and a special nephew, Kevin and wife Lindy Hoelscher of Brooklyn, NY; along with their families.

Honeoye: Grace Hicks Mastin, age 83, formerly of Honeoye, NY, passed away at Ontario County Health Facility on July 22, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold “Mike” Mastin in 2003 and her son-in-law Andy Carney in 2006.

Grace is survived by her children Cindy (Bob) Peterson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Laurie Carney of Boynton Beach, FL, Penny (Don) Jones of Bristol, and Lisa (Terry) Ward of Geneva; 10 grandchildren, Erik Peterson, Holly Powell, Sarah Rasmussen, Adam Jones, Jamie Sitterley, Andrea Jones, Matthew Carney, Wesley Peterson, Abby Sitterley, and Christopher Carney. 2 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way; sister-in-law Helen Mastin of Canadice, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ivan and Virginia Mastin of Springwater and many nieces and nephews.

he was born on February 21, 1930 to Donald and Lucretia Hicks in Rochester, NY. She graduated from Irondequoit High School in 1947 and continued her education at the University of Rochester where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Grace met the love of her life Harold “Mike” Mastin in Honeoye, where she was employed at Honeoye Central School as an art teacher. She took time off to raise her children, then went to the state college at Geneseo to get her Master’s degree in Education and returned to Honeoye Central School where she was an elementary teacher until her retirement in 1982.

The Honeoye-Hemlock American Legion Auxiliary Post 1278 was an important part of Grace’s life. She was poppy chairman, and for many years leading up to Memorial Day you could find her around town with her poppy can in hand. She held a variety of offices, including president and chaplain. Grace had over 500 hours of volunteer service to veterans at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Canandaigua.

In retirement, Grace and Mike enjoyed traveling and spent winters at their home in Orlando, Florida. She avidly followed sports, especially the Buffalo Bills, Orlando Magic, and the Atlanta Braves.

Friends and family may call Wednesday, July 24 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. at 8624 Main Street, Route 20A, Honeoye. A funeral service will be held at the Honeoye United Church of Christ on Main Street in Honeoye on Thursday, July 25 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service and luncheon.
